Feels like this was a very important restaurant at some time in the past. Service good. Food decent New Mexico style Mexican. I was excited to see fish tacos on the menu. Then I asked what kind of fish... Catfish? Yuck. Had to pass. Chili Relleno was decent.

The Sheepherder is good, marinated beef with onions & smothered in chili. & cheese. Crispy tacos are excellent! No refried beans here, whole pinto beans. Red & green chili are good & full of flavor. Carne is good. You always have a pitcher of ice tea at your table. Complimentary chips & salsa, which is good. The salsa is totally... More

I have lived in Gallup most of my life and going to Don Diegos since they opened. The food is always delicious and the service is awesome. The owners are wonderful people. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Looking forward to pork carnitas but boy were we disappointed. Fatty fried pork mixed with undercooked vegetables. Something you might expect at a cheap buffet not " the best Mexican restaurant in town". Never again.

The food taste like authentic Mexican food. Food was served very quick being there during lunch time. It is a little hot and spicy though which is good.

This is one of those restaurants that you want to give a good rating to but there's just enough things wrong that you can't. The food is good (not great) but at a nice price so it kind of evens out. The service is also average but the location is extremely convenient (right on the business route in town) so,... More

The food was very good. The only thing that bothered us was the interruption during our meal of the little Mexican children trying to sell us things. I don't think the restaurant should allow this when you're out for a nice meal and just want to have some alone time with your spouse.

Asked a few locals where they would go for lunch- I'm glad I took their advice. East to get to, Dirt cheap and the food is outstanding. Casual atmosphere brought me back to the 70's. Simple- family friendly and homemade Mexican

After stopping for the night, we started Driving thru town, and saw all the cars. Friendly staff. And quick service. Locals and tourists were enjoying the food. We tried the enchiladas, tamales, and tacos, guacamole and red and green sauces. They were all Yummy! We enjoyed the chunky salsa. I was tempted several times by the local venders stopping by...
