This is one of those restaurants that you want to give a good rating to but there's just enough things wrong that you can't. The food is good (not great) but at a nice price so it kind of evens out. The service is also average but the location is extremely convenient (right on the business route in town) so,... More

The food was very good. The only thing that bothered us was the interruption during our meal of the little Mexican children trying to sell us things. I don't think the restaurant should allow this when you're out for a nice meal and just want to have some alone time with your spouse.

Asked a few locals where they would go for lunch- I'm glad I took their advice. East to get to, Dirt cheap and the food is outstanding. Casual atmosphere brought me back to the 70's. Simple- family friendly and homemade Mexican

After stopping for the night, we started Driving thru town, and saw all the cars. Friendly staff. And quick service. Locals and tourists were enjoying the food. We tried the enchiladas, tamales, and tacos, guacamole and red and green sauces. They were all Yummy! We enjoyed the chunky salsa. I was tempted several times by the local venders stopping by... We arrived in Gallup after a long, long day's drive. Trip Advisor had two top places--Jerry's and Don Diego's. Jerry's does not serve alcohol, so we went to Don Diego's. Great margaritas restored us somewhat, and we ordered. It happened to be one of the two days when 'Carne Adovada' is offered (Fri/Sat) so I ordered pork cooked in that... More

..but we felt the food could have been better. It wasn't bad but it lacked the pizzazz and the spice we were hoping for. That said, I really believe that everyone's 'ideal' Mexican food is totally subjective (some love it hot & spicy and some prefer mild), so you should try it for yourself. The staff was efficient and friendly,... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by the front desk staff at our hotel and we were not disappointed. We had asked them to recommend somewhere that had a local feel to it, something we wouldn't experience other places. We were pleased to see a lot of cars in the parking lot, usually a good sign. The margaritas were tasty,... More

You will be in heaven if you happen to come in on cookie day! One of the managers bakes large batches of one of the best biscochitos I've ever tasted. If you miss this day, it's ok - the food and service is great, so you'll be close to heaven anyway!

I enjoy the food, the service, and the atmosphere. I think the staff does a great job for as busy as they get. Whenever I come to Gallup this is where I eat.

My spouse had adovado--which he loved--and said it was the spiciest adovado he had ever eaten (high recommendation from him). We enjoyed the chips and salsa. Don Diego's was recommended by a local, and it was good advice.
