Not a chain, Badlands offers true New Mexico hospitality and taste- for those of you traveling through, it's the place where locals go when they want a meal that's truly a cut above the rest, and relax with friends and neighbors. There's no dress code...no pretentiousness...just beef that's been wet-aged for 21 days, cut in-house and cooked to order...combine these with an ice cold beer or excellent bottle of wine... and you've got the stuff a cattleman's dreams are made of!

Great "stakes"? Sorry that cracked me up

We went here because it's number 1 on trip advisor. Reviews did not let us down. Great service. Great atmosphere. We didn't have "stake" so I can't comment but the tilapia was very good. Good chips. Don't know about dessert. We were too full. It's a bit pricey but not ridiculous. Owner even... read more

Great place to eat in a smaller city, have eaten at many 4 and 5 star restaurants the world over and have found few better wait staff and meals prepared better. We had the 8oz serloin steak, medium rare of course, with a fully loaded baked potato. My wife had the garlic mashed potstos. The steaks were perfect and tender... More

Felicia was a total delight. Nothing we asked for was unusual or couldn't be done. We like wine. She offered tastes of any we were interested in. I had the stuffed avocado. Being from Seattle, I'm a seafood snob, ok?. This wasn't great, fresh seafood, but what do you want in Gallup, New Mexico for heaven's sake?? Their veggie sides... More

I will start by saying we began our experience a little disapointed though it was not fault of the restaurant, It was suggested we go there to get an elk burger but upon arrival we learned that the elk berger is served as a special on occasion and not part of the regular menu. They do have an elk steak... More

While staying overnight in Gallup we found this place at Route 66. A real restaurant with table clothes! Very nice reception by waitress. Many choises on the menu and wine list. They have smaller dishes for elderly couples but splitting a plate is also possible at the extra cost of $9 The steaks were juicy as we like them, the... More

Looking through the options near my Gallup hotel, I settled on a nice-sounding Asian spot. However, contrary to online info, it was closed on Sundays, so I opted for my second choice, the Badlands Grill. I was pleasantly surprised in several ways. First, the service was fast and friendly, even though it was late on a Sunday evening (8 pm... More

Staff was welcoming. The room is dark with a real Western feel. Nice wine list. Server was very friendly. Steak was perfectly prepared and sides were very good.

We had dinner there last night. The atmosphere was just what you want in a place named "Badlands Grill". From the moment we walked in the door we were taken care of. Our waitress, Felicia, was wonderful - friendly and attentive. Service was fast. Steak was tasty. The place is clean. One thing to note - beer and wine only.

My wife and I recently visited the Four Corners area and made multiple stops along the way. One of those stops was Gallup, NM. We travel a lot and often rely on TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations in towns and cities we are unfamiliar with. Such was the case with Badlands Grill, which came highly recommended by TripAdvisor. We were not... More

We'd never been to Gallup before and were rather surprised at the limited dining options. The desk at the hotel recommended the Badlands Grill and we didn't have high expectations as we arrived. When we went in, the smokehouse aroma was very prevalent, which is a good sign for us as we do enjoy our BBQ. Before ordering our wine,... More
