Not a chain, Badlands offers true New Mexico hospitality and taste- for those of you traveling through, it's the place where locals go when they want a meal that's truly a cut above the rest, and relax with friends and neighbors. There's no dress code...no pretentiousness...just beef that's been wet-aged for 21 days, cut in-house and cooked to order...combine these with an ice cold beer or excellent bottle of wine... and you've got the stuff a cattleman's dreams are made of!

Pretty good place

The place was very clean. Staff is very friendly and good at their job. The food was very good. I got the 26oz T Bone. It had good flavor and was a pretty good cut, but not a great cut of steak. Another in my party had the same steak and he thought the same. The guy in my party... read more

To be positive- the wait staff was friendly, had smiles. When we arrived, we asked for a margarita and were told they only had "wine based margaritas". Later we found this to be true in some other NM restaurants due to liquor licenses being scarce. Badlands Grill offered several other 'wine based cocktails' so be wary. NOT the wait staffs... More

Originally reviewed a while back and had the Salmon which I thought was mediocre....BUT....went back and had one of the best steaks I've ever had. Service was still excellent.

After a long day travelling we were pleased to be warmly welcomed by attentive friendly waitress. Enjoyed the ambience of this lovely restaurant including the background music playing. Good choice on menu but a wee bit pricey, not enough to break the bank though. The food was delicious and I particularly enjoyed the bread with amazingly tasty apple butter and... More

Found this restaurant by asking a gentleman on the street where he would go for a good steak. Badlands he said and then gave me directions. Walking in,,,, I was greeted by a hostess who sat me immediately. The restaurant was more than half full, and various western articles were evident: ie; saddle, brands on wall, etc. My waitress, Jenna,... More

We stop in the middle of nowhere in Gallup New Mexico on a road trip from San Francisco to back home in Ottawa Canada and had a Birthday Dinner on July 24th at the BADLANDS GRILL , WHAT A MEAL . not expecting too much in a small town we picked this place . The Reuben was excellent , my... More

Very disappointed in the food. We all got steaks and they were tough and had no flavor. The waitress did not dare ask why no one ate their steaks. A good waitress would have talked to the manager and gave a discount on our meal.

Traveling through on a night stay, we went to Badlands Grill thinking it was not going to be good, but it was the best that we could find. Let me tell you, we were pleasantly surprised. The filet soup is the BEST soup I've ever had. Wonderful beefy broth with choice cuts of beef (and I lived in Kansas) and... More

We have been on the road several days and the food was great and the service and the atmosphere were wonderful. We enjoyed surf and Turf and chicken.

Although my wife and I have visited Gallup numerous times, we had never eaten at the Badlands. I found the restaurant trawling the Net, and we were rewarded with a good meal. Be aware (as we were not) that the Badlands features live music, in our case, a solo guitarist from the Netherlands whose set covered mostly 1970s rock and... More
