Not a chain, Badlands offers true New Mexico hospitality and taste- for those of you traveling through, it's the place where locals go when they want a meal that's truly a cut above the rest, and relax with friends and neighbors. There's no dress code...no pretentiousness...just beef that's been wet-aged for 21 days, cut in-house and cooked to order...combine these with an ice cold beer or excellent bottle of wine... and you've got the stuff a cattleman's dreams are made of!

Dinner

We have been on the road several days and the food was great and the service and the atmosphere were wonderful. We enjoyed surf and Turf and chicken.

Although my wife and I have visited Gallup numerous times, we had never eaten at the Badlands. I found the restaurant trawling the Net, and we were rewarded with a good meal. Be aware (as we were not) that the Badlands features live music, in our case, a solo guitarist from the Netherlands whose set covered mostly 1970s rock and... More

Staying in Gallup for just one night, the hotel suggested the Badlands Grill. The grill is located right on the traditional Route 66 and is surrounded by other establishments that don't look particularly inviting. The interior décor is a very traditional old west style. Service was excellent and came with a welcoming smile from a very efficient waitress. Food was... More

Bad Grill would be a more appropriate name for this restaurant. First off, the service was very good. The waitress kept checking back repeatedly and we certainly don't blame the staff for the quality of the food. The (hot) appetizers were served literally within a couple of minutes - never a good sign! One of our entrees was a steak... More

As others have noted, Badlands Grill has a pleasant, rustic "old west" ambiance. While the dining room is attractive enough, I was surprised to find the rest room to be very basic (didn't appear to be dirty) and serviceable at best. Badlands's wine list is extensive, offering "box wines" by the glass as well as bottles priced as high as... More

We had a business meeting here and enjoyed a terrific steak dinner. The atmosphere was nice and comfy. Service was excellent and on time. We were greeted well and seated promptly. I have to say that the steak was one of the best I have eaten in Gallup. Finally, someone who can cook a steak and not dry it out!

The waitress that served us was very polite and respectful. She was very attentive and made sure our visit was as good as it could have been. The food was good but not awesome. The atmosphere was nice and felt comfortable. Probably one of the best restaurants in Gallup.

While staying overnight in Gallup, based on the high reviews on Trip Advisor I decided to have dinner at the Badlands Grill. The ambiance of the restaurant is very Western and warm. I was met by very friendly staff. My food server, Felicia, was very attentive and friendly. The food was very good, but not great. The bread that was... More

Service was top notch, friendly and helpful. Restaurant was cutely decorated. My Cobb salad was very good as was the dressing. My husband's dry-aged ribeye was tasteless and the baked potato was not done. The excellent waitress even brought him a second potato, which turned out to be the same. They did offer free dessert and took 10% off the... More

This restaurant has probably the most decent quality dining experience for many miles around. Service is above average, but not outstanding. As a single diner, a traveling professional, I am often ISO decent, friendly restaurants and not feel like I am being rushed in and out of the door for turnover of customers. You can linger as long as you... More
