Unassuming storefront in strip mall.

Good variety of Japanese rolls. Teppan grill is my granddaughter's favorite. Large portions and I usually have take-away. A rice bowl is a full meal for me. Good selection of Japanese beers and sake.

In an area that leans towards more traditional Mexican and northern New Mexican cuisine (meat, corn, rice, beans), Jo Ji's is an unexpected surprise. Although not as fancy and assuming as many of the nicer and pricier restaurants in Taos and Santa Fe, Jo Ji's has done a fine job at bringing an alternative to Espanola. Always busy, usually packed... More

So I am native from Espanola NM. I myself love sushi. I have been to quiet a few sushi restaurants and I have to say very I am very disappointed in this one. Arrived at 645pm and it took almost an hour to get 3 rolls and 1 order of sashimi. My beverage was always empty. Service was so so.... More

I happened to stumble across Jo-Ji's on my way to Taos. Skeptical about stopping (anywhere) to eat in Espanola, I decided to give it a try. I was surprised to find amazing cuisine, friendly staff, and a clean inviting atmosphere. I ordered the tempura (lightly battered and fried shrimp and seasonal vegetables) as an appetizer, and a shrimp bowl with... More

I eat here frequently but mostly take out. The spicy pork bowl is awesome! My 12 year old son and I have birthdays 2 days apart so we go out for a combined birthday dinner and our tradition has been to go to a Teppan grill. Jo Ji's teppan grill was very good from the amount and taste of the... More

I'll start with the good. 1. Asian food in the food desert of Espanola. They get points for even opening the doors. 2. Good portion sizes. You probably wont leave hungry. 3. Decent quality food. The not so great. 1. Single woman ignored by servers for 10 minutes. One guys played happily on his phone while I sat without water... More

A family owned restaurant that offers Japanese sushi and sashimi in a town that is dominated by Mexican restaurants. The sushi and sashimi are very good as are the yakitori and other items found on the menu. The Teppan style grills offer cooked seafood and meats. Closed Mondays. Busy on Friday as well as the weekends. Best to make a... More

I didn't expect sushi in Espanola, but my daughter-in-law who should know recommended it. It also has Japanese steakhouse fare. It is very good and explanation. If you eat here, you will also discover one of the secrets of New Mexico restaurants -- the food preparers are Mexican nationals -- irrespective of cuisine.

When you are surrounded by nothing but fast food restaurants and Mexican food its refreshing to have something new in town. Although their sushi is not the best I've ever eaten it is decent and they also serve gyosas and a tofu rice bowl for us vegetarians. The best roll I've had is the Mew Mexico roll with green chili...
