Great Green Chili

Pulling up to this place, you don't assume much. You walk in and see all of the awards for their green chili sauce and then realize you in for a treat. I ordered the Green Chili burrito with chicken, and it was incredible. It is off the beaten path, but well worth the drive if you are in the... read more

Living in El Rito, I get the privilege of going here at least once a week (once is a skip-the-diet day, and the other is a too-lazy-to-cook day!). However, their food and service is so good, my in-laws from upstate NY just call us from the restaurant the first day of each visit! The atmosphere is cozy and feels like... More

This has to be one of the most out of the way restaurants in the U.S., also one if not the BEST. If someone does not tell you about it, you would never know it exist. My wife said this was the best Chili Rellenos she has had in her life. I had the New Mexico version of Frito Chili... More

Definitely worth the 25 mi round-trip from highway 84! We both had the house special combo dinner plate. Probably the best $11 each we ever spent. The chile relleno was so delicious! Everything else on the plate plus the sopapillas was excellent. Had a piece of pie and some cookies to go and they were tasty too. Service was friendly.... More

We were told by several peopl at the Ghost Ranch to go check this restaurant out! So glad we did! The best chili relleno in the history of ever. The owner and her family run the place and are so nice. Take your own bottle be they do not have a liquer license.

We're glad they did too! We just love finding out about these little "hole in the wall" places that serve up authentic mexican food. The service was really good and genuine. I loved the sopapillas they serve up with the meal. Excellent combination! Didn't do me any favors towards my waistline…but what the heck - I'm willing to cheat every... More

Driving into El Rito, New Mexico, a backroad intersection with a dot on the map, you could drive right by El Farolito if you weren't looking for it. Hidden on the side of the road between garages and run down houses, you probably wouldn't stop much less go in to eat if you hadn't read about this wonderful family run... More

There's a reason Jan and Michael Stern Sunset magazine and other sing praises of this homey little place. With no more that 18 seats in a ramshackle storefront in El Rito (population less than 10% of a Beyoncé concert), this family-owned dive turns out the best northern New Mexican food in the state. Tou can get enchiladas with one of... More

After hearing people rave about this tiny restaurant for years I finally had the opportunity to go in search of it and am very glad I did. It is a unique treat. Hand prepared New Mexico food that is served hot, fresh and delicious. The service is very friendly making one feel right at home. Could easily have a wait... More

A friend told us we had to drive to El Farolito from Santa Fe as it was one of those great hole-in-the-wall places. It was a spectacular drive and the funky little town is interesting. El Farolito has been around for a long time. It seems the original owner's descendants are running it now. The food was good, not the... More
