Best Carne Adovada ever!

It was amazing food. The staff and owner were friendly and fun, and even remembered my friend though he hadn't been there for years! The plate came with posole, beans and hand-made tortillas, and of course the rich red chile was to die for. That, and a La Cumbre IPA, and I was in heaven!

Lunch only -- NO DINNER served. Just good. Everything is good. It's a historic OLD OLD OLD adobe building (NOT all-spiffied-up), creating an authentic, relaxed, time-don't-matter atmosphere... home-cooked, made-to-order, fresh-ingredient grub which is TASTY and really (laughably) inexpensive. Quiet bar up front, with a couple of local fellas enjoying a mid-day beer and talking to the owner, John Perea. A... More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch last Saturday at Perea's. We had passed it many times and thought it was just a watering hole. It is an historic adobe with all the charm you'd expect in "old New Mexico." The village of Corrales is loaded with charm and this spot is in keeping. The food was plentiful and... More

This is the Authentic, Home made, New Mexico food Restaurant. The building is an old adobe with historic marker and the food has been made by the family owners for generations. It has a full bar and the ambiance only found in 'The Real Deal'. In the heart of Historic Corrales, where I live ! Only open for Lunch but... More

Recently a friend who likes New Mexican style food (sopapillas, green and red chili burritos etc.) invited me to join him at Perea's Bar. It is, like many of the places in Corrales, on the "funky" side but quite comfortable. We were there for lunch and my friend chose several small orders and I chose a burger. I am not... More

The atmosphere in this historic adobe house is the best. Friendly people, fireplaces going on cold days, and authentic New Mexican food. Wonderful green chile cheeseburger - my favorite. Did I mention the amazing selection of beers? Everything a beer lover would want.

This is as authentic Corrales as you can get. Perea's has been owned by the same family for several generations. When I arrive in town my friends meet me here for margaritas and authentic New Mexican food. We share a deluxe nacho and John, the current owner, just keeps bringing us food and drinks. There is a fireplace in the... More

As most Corraleans will tell you, the best place for a Mexican food lunch in Corrales is Parea's. This is essentially a bar up front - an old style, wooden, neighborhood bar. The restaurant area is back behind it - a reasonable - not too large - room with a small patio area off of it. All this is set... More

I'm in the 13th generation of a New Mexico family that has exacting expectations of New Mexican food and the traditions practiced in its preparation. Perea's is the rare restaurant that serves New Mexican food in the classic form. Their chile (red and green) is full-bodied and flavorful, their sopapillas have a nice light flake over the cooked dough and... More
