We arrived at 3:30 after traveling all day. We were told the restaurant does not open until 4:30. The hotel clerk said "well - if you are passing thru again - - stop by". We were pretty hungry so after looking over the menu we decided we would come back. The same clerk seemed surprised to see us and said... More

This is the only hotel in town. Check out the saloon (most diners ear there) and the wall hangings. A separate restaurant next to the saloon offers more traditional settings. Good food indeed.

Went durring prime time, 6:00 pm. After meal could see why there was only one other table occupied. Ordered rare filet, was served well done. Partner ordered chips and salsa and after 3 requests, by the end of the meal it was never served. Pathetic. Would never go again.

At first look it was cool. The old west atmosphere was charming. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. We waited for a very long time to get our ticket and finally had to seek out our server and ask for the ticket. Then had to wait what we considered too long for her to run it and bring it back.... We've driven down US 87/64 half a dozen times over the last 10 years and never noticed the Hotel Eklund before. That is our loss. We stopped for lunch while southbound and enjoyed it so much we stopped again when returning home--two very nice lunches in the space of five days. Contrary to other reviews here, the service could not... More

Obviously our experience was different from that of a number of other reviewers. We were en route from Amarillo to Angel Fire and stopped for lunch in Clayton. We were seated comfortably immediately upon walking in the door, and our waitress took our order pretty quickly after we had closed our menus to signal we were ready to order. I... More

It took 30 min to get waited on when only 2 other tables were in the bar. Our drinks took another 20min. We asked for chips and salsa and never got them. Our food showed up after we waited a very long time. The salads were spinach only and when we complained she said that "you wouldn't want the cucumbers... More

I have recently had the good fortune as the owner/manager to not have to wait on tables very often as I have a very capable waitstaff that is very reliable. On this particular night during the holidays, guests were given the option of dining in our nicely decorated Dining Room. So the majority of our guests chose the dining room,... More

My family of four went to the Eklund last night. There were four empty tables in the bar but we had to wait for an open table in the restaurant. When we got to our table there was one large group of 12 to 14 people. We ordered drinks and the waiter told us the food would be a while.... More

Let's start off by stating it took several minutes just to receive a seat and the hostess/waitress was only busy with one table. Then when we finally did get seated it was by a completely separate employee. When I opened the menu I was excited to see many of my favorite foods, sadly they butchered my favorite foods. The food... More
