Wonderful food. Best in New Mexico?

Haven't visited here in 15 years. It was just as good as remembered. Excellent shredded beef tacos, maybe the best I've ever had. The chili Relleno was terrific and the basket of warm Sopapillas with honey made the visit extra memorable for the kids. Excellent service. Very reasonable prices... read more

We went here based on a HIGH recommendation from a friend, as well as all the 4 and 5 star ratings here and on other sites. Honestly, I don't get it. To me, it was a mediocre restaurant at best, in a dingy building that hasn't been updated or cleaned in ages. We actually booked a room across the street... More

This is really the ONLY place to eat on the High Road between Santa Fe and Taos, but, thankfully, it is very good. We arrived at 11:15 (they don't open until 11:30), and were greeted cordially and directed to the bar where we could wait comfortably. We were seated promptly at 11:30, and then, suddenly, the place started filling up.... More

We used to patronize Rancho de Chimayo 30 years ago when my folks lived in Santa Fe. Then my widowed father & I were able to go back last year when re-visiting northern New Mexico - and the food was still amazing. So we made it a point to re-visit the restaurant on a short 5 day trip back to... More

We've been to Rancho de Chimayo many times over the last 30 years, but only once in the last 10. It used to be famous. The food, the service, and the setting were all up to a very high standard. The sevice is still fine but the food is now just "nice", nothing particularly special. There are other places just... More

Take an enchanting drive to this charming restaurant and you won't be disappointed. This is quintessential New Mexico. I have been going here for 44 of its 50 years of operation and it is still my all-time favorite restaurant.

Our waiter, David, did a professional job. The restaurant is a converted home, you might visit six times and eat in six different rooms. My Picante Platter had carne adovada, a tamale and a cheese enchilada. I ordered Christmas, next time will go with all green chile. I almost licked the plate. Spiciness level: If #1 is no spice and... More

We drove from Taos to Chimayo specificially to visit Rancho de Chimayo. We took the High Road which was breathtakingly beautiful. Still snowy peaks in mid-April and a vista around every corner. But that's another review. The restaurant is situated within the village of Chimayo well back into a field with mountain views. The adobe home is divided into seating... More

We had lunch and the next day a brunch at the Rancho de Chimayo---the service is excellent, the ambience is wonderful and the hospitality is old-school Spanish. Both meals were great---I recommend the Chili Relleno. The honey is so good we bought several bottles to bring home for friends.
