Pete's is one of the few places where you can have authentic New Mexican cuisine the food has always been consistently prepared every time we go and have a sit down dinner. No canned style dinner here red or green chilli is great to have with a number of great dishes they offer,And you also get to watch BNSF trains go... Tastes like average Mexican American food. Could do better at home myself and I'm a white boy. Expected great green chili - watery and bland.

I'm a Land of Enchantment native who's eaten enough New Mexican food to know the best place for salsa, the best place for red chile, the best place for chile rellenos... I have never been to a restaurant where everything brought to our table was better than each of my other favorite dishes at other spots, and it was all... More

The best experience was the decor and the sopapillas. The carne adovada had no seasoning other than red chili and the Green chili was watery and tasteless. Not recommended as a New Mexican cuisine experience

On Saturday, we went to a great event ("Follow the Star to Bethlehem") in Belen with friends and family and combined it with dinner at Pete's cafe. I made the reservation for our group (20 total) five days before the event and the gentleman was very courteous and professional; i.e. simple and easy way to make a reservation. On Saturday... More

Last visit to Belen was on a day when Pete's was closed, so we were pleased to catch it open this time. Food was excellent, all tasted fresh, tasty and appropriately spicy. The waitress was attentive and willing to share information about the area. Pete's has added an elevated solar array in the parking lot, which also doubles as a... More

Belen, NM doesn't have a lot to pin itself to the map with, but Pete's Diner is certainly one place that cannot be missed. It's a hidden treasure for sure in an out of the way area, but worth one's time to find it. I love the Chili Relleno Plate that comes with rice and beans and a small green... More

The last time I ate here was in the 90's when I was a bank examiner. The restaurant food was as good as I remembered...super fresh salsa and warm chips proceeded an excellent meal. I had the #2 combination plate with the chili rellano. OMG it was one of the best I have eaten and I have eaten quite a... More

Cafe is like an artist canvas. It was very different in a good way. If you are in the area, stop by this place.

My wife and I ate at Pete’s for lunch in June 2013. She had a Navajo taco and I had the taco plate. Both were tasty, hot, and the portions were adequate. My meal came with two sopaipillas and honey. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and prompt. We arrived at 1130am and by the time we left a line... More
