Attractive views and good, fresh food for Bhutan.

From its high point location, the restaurant has attractive views over the surrounding countryside. Much of the food in Bhutan is fairly mediocre but the ‘Village Restaurant’, although still offering food buffet style, serves freshly cooked dishes that have been prepared in small batches and... read more

Great position for this restaurant on Punakha Valley. Staff extremely nice! the place is very clean and the food, typical bhutanese, is good! We had red rice, cheese with chili, spinach, chicken and vegetables, and all was very tasty and good. It's a turistic place, coming from Thimphu after Dochula Pass, but is highly recommended?

We had lunch here twice with a group and it was always nice and fresh food, much less oily than in most other restaurants. The place was also very clean and interior design is nice. Clean restrooms too.

Visited this place in April 2014. Manager took our order , rice and daal & chicken curry ......... the bare minimum requirement of guests for lunch. After 45 minutes of waiting , he said , he can't cook , food cannot be served. for reasons not declared. we then moved to some other hotel.

The food smelled and tasted good and the service was great because of a very attentive owner. Otherwise of course it is the usual buffet style Bhutanese tourist cuisine so one has to be realistic in their judgement.
