What a disappointment. I had hoped for a good meal, having heard so much about it. Food took long to arrive, staff disinterested and the prices absolutely extortionate. Not up to expectation!

After enjoying a delightful cookery class "Vietnam in a Bowl" with Jeremy Freemantle, I decided to invite a group of guests for a celebratory dinner to African Relish, serving the same menu. Guests loved the many taste experiences, the lightness of the dishes and the super interior/exterior dining spaces. A special place to spend a special evening, or simply join... More

When the place is in a dorp that is miles from nowhere and they still can be in the game of providing a classy meal, then they deserve brownie points. They took on the challenge of entertaining our table of 14 and did not quite cut it food wise. The menu was interesting with not a huge choice so they... More

Friendly, hands-on owners who know what they're doing and clearly enjoy it (they run a successful cookery school on site, so it figures).

We think that "dihawks" was so unlucky as we could not recognise African Relish from his/her review. We visited in 2012 and had one of the best meals ever - mine was soup followed by springbok and my wife had three cheese soufflé followed by belly of pork - the crackling was cooked to perfection and the meat was succulent.... It was just us three ( 2 people traveling with our SA guide) who had the pleasure to cook out hearts out with Chef Jeremy. We all enjoy cooking very much and were delighted to learn professional cooking techniques, starting with how to make an excellent stock to carry the flavor of many meals, followed by some classic contemporary South... Excellent vegetarian cooking course given in the morning. We enjoyed all the dishes prepared for lunch after the demonstration.

We loved this restaurant. The service and food were equally excellent! I had an incredibly tasty squid starter and my husband had the soufflé starter. Our main courses were the pork belly and the chicken stew, both were divine! We shared the crème brulee for dessert and both thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. If you are in Prince Albert be sure... We booked a Saturday night table and the place seemed pretty full which for a Winter's night out of season says something. Atmosphere was friendly and it was a shame that it was so cold...must be a whole lot better in the Summer. We had similar food to other people who have eaten there in these reviews and I must...
