I recently visited African Relish with a couple of friends after recommendation by a colleague of mine. The whole experience exceeded my best expectation by far! The most amazing food and the friendliness of the staff really made us feel welcome and at home. I would highly recommend African Relish to everyone seeking a taste of true Karoo! More

We recently spent a weekend at the African Relish cooking school in Prince Albert. We booked the weekend to learn more about summer bistro meals from top SA chef Stef Marais. The opportunity to spend time with such an inspirational chef was fantastic! Add to that: an amazing host in Jeremy who patiently and genty shared his cooking expertise too,... More

African Relish has a big publicity campaig promoting themselves in different 'foodey" magazines and newspaper sections. We have read the reviews on TripAdvisor before an extremely expensive dinner. How can this place a cooking school? Disappointed would be an understatement! "Rip off!",my daughter, said. The food was not good, the waitron had difficulty understanding what was vegan. Pudding was stodgey. As... More

African Relish used to be a delight with excellent quality food and superb service. There has been a change in management and it shows. The food is not quite there and the service varies from good to slapdash. It is still good but not quite the standard it was although the prices have remained the same! Examples: pudding choice of... We had dinner at African Relish when the cookery courses weren't running, so there was a pervading sense of calm in the airy, open plan kitchen. The dining area is a nice space with plenty of room between tables and, of course, a view into the kitchen. Service was a little lacklustre though, and service lessons alongside cookery lessons wouldn't... More

having read quite a bit about this restaurant, we went with high expectations. the decor is great, as is the service, but the food was variable and not really up to the expensive prices. More

This was probably the worst restaurant meal we've had in years, and we eat out a lot. We weren't welcomed by anyone when we arrived, a silent waitress came over, not bothering even to say hello. When we asked about local red wine (bearing in mind this cookery school/restaurant focuses on this), she recommmended a sparking without seeming to realise...We... More

My friend had lamb, which was enjoyable. I cannot say for the pasta, which was overdone. More
