Hi everyone - yes Alpenstube has closed down so unfortunately you can no longer enjoy a German food experience here.

Hi Am trying to book with the Alpenstube! Adverrtised phone number doesn't work! Apparently number not in use. Emailed a week ago but no response. Wanted to treat my German brood to an authentic meal. Can't even get to first base with Alpenstube. - Pissed off from Bemerode - Maybe they've gone bust?

wanted to have a Lazy Sunday Beer Garden Afternoon so went on the web and pointed in this establishments direction by two websites so the chances of having a good time was good. Went their with friends to celebrate the day after birthday party and had our expectations completely met. The beer was drinking similar to drinking milk from a... More

I grew up with Austrian grandparents so know a good schnitzel when I find one...! A totally mental restaurant, 'Why?'Is the main recurring question I have throughout my visit...'What's it all about?' No real explanation is offered as to why there is a Germanic themed eatery on the main drag in Hout Bay... Food is ok, (schnitzel good but not... More

We went early on a quiet Tuesday evening to try out the Alpenstube for ourselves and had a very nice evening. Outside of Germany it is the most authentic German food we've ever tasted and the portions were really generous - making even the more expensive items on the menu really good value. It's a great place for a big... More

We visited based on the high ratings but felt it was a little overrated. Don't get me wrong the food was very good and we enjoyed the Unusual selection meat on the menu , the service was good. No complaints. Just not outstanding to be so highly rated. I would describe it as a casual relaxed place. No need to... More

Living in Hout Bay for 34 years we are spoilt for choice. However I want to mention one specific place and that is the hidden secret: Alpenstube. The quiet ambiance, the most welcome fireplace in winter, the family owned service and last but definitely not least the master chef! The food and presentation is wonderful. Do try their Eisbein or... More

Really a great experience. From the smiles you get when you enter this restaurant, to the warmth ,the atmosphere and the food. The Kudu Fillet was amazing! Thumbs up for the chef. Even the guests in the restaurant were friendly and you can see they are return clients. This feels like you are dining with a family. This family owed... More

We used TA to help make our decision for a good birthday lunch and couldn't be happier we settled on Alpenstube. Easy to find little wooden 'chalet' with the absolute best German food. Couldn't fault a single dish (and we swopped out forkfuls with relish) and will easily reccomend the restaurant to those looking for legit German food. Tender meats,... More
