Good Food, Poor Ambience

We went back to the Lounge at LQF after a visit about 2 years ago when we really enjoyed the lounge with deep armchairs and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We were disappointed that the entire setup and layout had been changed, definitely for the worst. It felt like I was eating in a canteen as the... read more

We really enjoy coming here for their movie and meek combo. It's unique to be able to watch a movie at the Screening Room so why not do it with a meal to. It costs R120 and you get to choose tapas options from the menu up to this value. Afterwards you walk next door and enjoy a free glass... More

We had been to the Common Room before and didn't do any proper research for our last dinner in South Africa. We loved the Common Room and expected this to be no less, only a name switch! The food was thoroughly disappointing and can not be compared to similar restaurants in CT such as the Canteen, wharehouse or Potluck Club.... More

I went to get a quiet cocktail during an afternoon half hour journalling session. I ordered a Mojito, which took about 20 minutes to make, even though I was the only one in the restaurant. When I tasted it, it literally tasted like sparkling water mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice. I didn't want to make a fuss but when... More

The crispy duck was amazing. And the chicken breasts were also great. The manager was very friendly she spoke to us about Franschhoek and it's restaurants.

We love this bar for a drink and quick bite. Very nice atmosphere and outside seating overlooking the main street. Nice selection of drinks including craft beer. The nibbles like vetkoekies with pulled pork and chicken liver parfait make an excellent snack to go with the drinks and were quite delicious.

We wanted something very small after big meals all day and this seemed reasonable.... but it wasn't. The food was ok but the portions were tiny for what you got. The drinks were also all 10-15 rand more than anywhere else. I regret going here as I think it doesn't do Franschoek any justice. Rather head to one of the... More

The 'Grazing Board' is something that will stand out in my mind for a long time to come! Something so simple done to such perfection needs certain recognition. Each element on the board had a place and all paired so well with each other. It was an experience to appreciate the contrast in flavours and textures that were strategically added... More

Two g&ts a grazing board, prawn popcorn, chicken liver parfait and oysters for 400 rand. Though priced competitively, the food was wanting. For a previous worlds fifty best restaurant, whether you're eating in the main restaurant or having what we had, it was average at the very very best. The nibbles board was large but lacking anything of note. Oysters... More

We heard many good thing about this place so we decided to try and were not disappointed. The setting is wonderful, the food delicious and creative and the service just fantastic. It was really what you call an experience you will not forget in the near future and all this at a reasonable price. When going to Franschhoek the right... More
