Good food

We had 3 of the tapas style dishes and thought all were delicious. The duck pancakes in particular were a highlight. We had the profiteroles for dessert and they were a major letdown, the only negative on the food front. Atmosphere was also a bit lacking considering it was NYE. Service was very... read more

The atmosphere here was utterly bizarre. Uncomfortable silence, mostly. Not at all what we'd been told to expect. It was also fairly empty, so quite why everyone was adamant that I needed to reserve is anyone's guess! Service was so-so. We were seated behind a door that the wait staff insisted on flinging open whenever they passed through, causing a... More

We booked a table outside. We had been a few years ago and the food was memorable. Service was friendly. We ordered one of everything vegetarian on the menu and it was all delicious. When we got chilly we went inside to the bar where there is a duke box and had a few more cocktails. It was a perfect... More

If you're not too hungry but want to enjoy quality food seated right along main street, then the Living Room is the place! They have a small menu with about 20 dishes including a few deserts. The buttermilk chicken and the meatballs are especially tasty. The bar has a few draft beers and the wine selection is also quite nice.... More

This is a casual alternative to the expensive and overbooked mothership. The food is from the same kitchen, though. Get an array of interesting small plates, enjoy at your own pace and save a ton. No fuss...good wine list, good food, Best oysters I had in SA. Will return.

Full of variety and all well cooked. In some ways we enjoyed this more than its big brother restaurant "the tasting room" partly because you can order exactly what you want and also get enough to fill you up, no more no less. Thoroughly enjoyed the food.

We were seated and they took our order ( because they had to, I think). We got our food (very nice btw) and that was it. Never got refills, never asked if we needed another drink, dirty plates waiting on the table, never asked if we needed desert or coffee... They were all busy pampering "the usuals". Really a shame.

I love love love this place. We always go here for oysters and fizz before dinner. When the weather is warm it is such a good place to sit outside and enjoy the ambience. The bartenders here are excellent, friendly and quick. Franschhoek needs this wine bar , and I hope it doesn't disappear with all the new renovations.
