The Kitchen is very contemporary, small and it was full the evening we visited. The menu is innovative and well prepared. A very small menu and nothing much for the vegetarian. Prices were a little on the high side for the portions/choice. The service from Levi, our waiter, was excellent.

How have we missed this gem in previous years? We went for lunch yesterday and were impressed by the menu. We shared a starter of cured yellowtail then I had BBQ beef shortribs with cabbage slaw, shimjii pickle and kale and my husband chose bobotie glazed lamb rib with nettle, peach and red onion salsa. All were delicious and beautifully... More

well we heard mixed reviews and wanted to try it ourself.the location is very nice, the service very good. The food,i would say average.there are better restaurants not far away. The price for the wine from Maison, their own winery , was really high. Would we go back there, no

We stayed next door at something like a B&B. When we asked for a place to eat lunch after arriving they suggested next door. We thought they were talking about someone's house for sandwiches. They took us around their back fence through a grape field and next thing you know we're walking up into the back yard of this beautiful... More

We arrived from the wine tram, excited to finally get a taste for what we had heard was a great experience. On arrival we were shunted out to the front of the restaurant where tasting takes place and were hardly paid a moment's notice. Only the manager seemed to have the energy to smile, but that did little to help... More

A late booking for Sunday lunch. Nicely received and the usual charming introduction from the waiter... then it went downhill unfortunately. The oysters in a sweet ( water-melon ? ) sauce were simply horrible ( in my opinion ) Surely oysters make up a savoury dish - these simply did not work. The tempura mussels were so-so - the contents... More

This is our favourite place in Franschoek, lunch on the patio, looking over the lawn, the old oak tress and the vines - no where could be better. Been twice this time and will be back. Excellent food and value, fantastic service. Special mention to Levi, Alice, Webster & Patrick who now know us, couldn't do enough for you and... More

The food was absolutely great, and very tasty. We were 8 and had a table on the verandah. the temperature was about 39 degrees and to be honest the place could do with ceiling fans or mist sprayers as we were uncomfortably hot! Decor is lovely. Food is not cheap but like I said it was very tasty and presented... More

It's getting to the stage where we plan our trips to Franschhoek around Maison's opening times! This is our fourth visit here for lunch and they just have everything right; a relaxed atmosphere, wonderful setting, friendly and attentive service and of course fantastic food. The dishes are always interesting but showcase the main ingredient rather than distract from it. We... More
