Although a bit more expensive that what I remember, it is truly a beautiful setting and well worth a visit. Some interesting food options available for the not so faint-hearted but also wonderful fish and red meat options.

Last sunday we headed again for Franschhoek and visited a place which was on our list for quite a while. I have heard some good things about The Kitchen and its chef Arno van Rensburg. It was a perfect springday, the sun was shining and we got a table on the terrasse overviewing the charming lawn and the vineyards. Since... More

The chef at The Kitchen has apparently just returned from an 'inspirational holiday', not that he neede it, as we have previously enjoyed excellent meals here! Last week-end we had lunch here and once again it was outstanding. The menu is short and offers a great selection, and prepare for the unusual. The tempura mussels are a hit! Other starters... More

Well where do I start? The setting is beautiful, the wine and food is fab and the service second to none. Unfortunately we were saving room for dinner so didn't try the starters. The mains - ox tongue and rabbit - were absolutely delicious. So tasty and melt in your mouth. For dessert we tried the gooseberry tart - A... More

We came for a later lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Food was great and the wine too, but the staff became ruder and ruder the closer it was to 5 o clock (knock off time). A pity. Not everyone wants to eat at 12 and leave by 2.

We love the kitchen. Arno is a genius that does not have to over cook food to make it spectacular! Over the last two years that we have been frequenting this restaurant we still have to find a meal that we aren't blown away by. Always fresh, always great quality. And the 2010 Shiraz is probably the best in the... More

We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant, having tried many of the 5 star restaurants. My husband advised it was my birthday when we booked. The menu is on a blackboard but difficult to decipher with complicated ingredients. One would expect at these prices that care would be taken to explain the menu. Not the case-we had to... More

What a wonderful experience. Great service but the prices are what you could expect for Franschhoek. Beautiful setting in the vinyard and tasty food. Not a wide variety of dishes to choose from, but what they have is definitely done well!

We had a delicious lunch here in a beautiful setting. We just wanted something light so the starter portions were ideal although fairly pricey. We will settle in for a longer lunch next time at one of the garden tables. 1 little niggle - when we requested a little more of the relish accompanying our dish, we were charged R10... More

We arrived here by chance as our original choice was not open. The welcome was fine and the dining area is nice and open with a log fire as it was a cool day. The menu was rather confusing as it is lists of ingredients--some of which we did not know. The waiter didn't explain much to us--he did explain... More
