We came for a later lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Food was great and the wine too, but the staff became ruder and ruder the closer it was to 5 o clock (knock off time). A pity. Not everyone wants to eat at 12 and leave by 2.

We love the kitchen. Arno is a genius that does not have to over cook food to make it spectacular! Over the last two years that we have been frequenting this restaurant we still have to find a meal that we aren't blown away by. Always fresh, always great quality. And the 2010 Shiraz is probably the best in the... More

We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant, having tried many of the 5 star restaurants. My husband advised it was my birthday when we booked. The menu is on a blackboard but difficult to decipher with complicated ingredients. One would expect at these prices that care would be taken to explain the menu. Not the case-we had to... More

What a wonderful experience. Great service but the prices are what you could expect for Franschhoek. Beautiful setting in the vinyard and tasty food. Not a wide variety of dishes to choose from, but what they have is definitely done well!

We had a delicious lunch here in a beautiful setting. We just wanted something light so the starter portions were ideal although fairly pricey. We will settle in for a longer lunch next time at one of the garden tables. 1 little niggle - when we requested a little more of the relish accompanying our dish, we were charged R10... More

We arrived here by chance as our original choice was not open. The welcome was fine and the dining area is nice and open with a log fire as it was a cool day. The menu was rather confusing as it is lists of ingredients--some of which we did not know. The waiter didn't explain much to us--he did explain... More

I was shocked to be served a 10cm by 6cm piece of fish yesterday. For the price I paid I would expect a good portion. A portion of chips is R35 to be added to it. Will never return!

Walking into the kitchen evokes an excitement for a wonderful afternoon ahead. Beautiful view, simple yet stylish furniture and a relaxed garden swing. Unfortunately the food does not match the same setting standard with tiny portions, lack of balance in flavors and a generally super average food experience with quite a hefty price tag. When we complained to our waiter... More

Just had the most wonderful lunch at The Kitchen at Maison Wine Estate. The setting is beautiful, we chose to eat on the stoep but you could have eaten indoors or on benches in the garden. All tables look over to the vineyards and mountains It is a fairly limited menu but I still had trouble choosing! We just went... More
