Lovely setting

We visited with friends for Sunday lunch on a lovely autumn day. Firstly, the wines were excellent, including the Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and the Merlot/Shiraz blend. The menu was broad enough to cater for most of our tastes. We shared olives/tapenade/bread, bitterballen and duck spring rolls... read more

We enjoyed eating from a very interesting dinner menu. The service was excellent. We liked watching the staff working in the kitchen, and were amazed how calm they seemed, while cooking for so many people!

On a wind still autumn afternoon few things are as good as a leisurely lunch at Le Bon Vivant at Glenwood. You sit under large trees looking at mountains and vineyards and a little dam with water lilies in it. The food is good. I had melon, tomato and basil soup and a lovely tagliatelle pasta with Gruyere and mushrooms.... More

My husband and I had lunch at this restaurant on 24 March. I ordered what was described as pasta with an assorted mushroom sauce and my husband had a prawn broth. I had to search for the mushrooms and wondered if they had run out by the time we ordered, (13.30). The prawn broth contained 4 small prawns We ordered... More

We came here primarily to taste the wines, which we did (we always spit!). Then afterwards as time was getting on we decided to have lunch here and had a small glass of wine with lunch. The food was very good, as was the wine. The food wasn't quite up to the standard of Foliage or Reubens but was still... More

It really is a stunning location and I wish I could be kinder about the restaurant. The starters were small and relatively highly priced. The main courses were not bad but lacking the flavour you come to expect in Franschhoek restaurants. Service was fine except for not understanding that we didn't want the newly bottled 2014 when the wine list... More

If by any chance there is a heaven ; and if by even more chance I manage to get there; when St Peter comes round with his clip board and asks what I would like to do for the next few millennia of eternity, I would be very tempted to say "just leave me at Glenwood". Sitting under the trees... More

Thank you for your wonderful review which we thoroughly appreciated and shared with all our staff. In terms of your comment about our relative remoteness, we feel that the resulting tranquillity is integral to the ambience we have tried to create (while we are only 7 kms from the Huguenot Monument!). We are all committed to the continued success of... More

Only 5 minutes from Franschhoek, Bon Vivant @ Glenwood is a most relaxing place to enjoy good food in wonderful natural surroundings. The menu is small but the choices are good and I would think it offers something for everyone. The staff were pleasant and service good. Wine tasting is also available should you wish to taste some of Glenwood... More

We went on a mystery tour to find the Glenwood restaurant and what a surprise! The weather was very misty and foggy that afternoon and we drove slowly through the mountainous terrain until we found a road sign marking our destination. Fortunately the weather had deterred others to come so we got their place as we had not pre booked... More

The food here is mainly for a brunch but it is very good indeed, but not a lot to choose from. There were breathtaking views and there is a quiet ambience about it. Very attentive staff and very helpful. The downside is you have to go down a dirt track to get to it.
