We had booked well in advance and arrived on a damp day for lunch. We wandered around the gardens and the pleasant grounds, really well worth setting aside time for this. There is also a shop with lots of local produce, preserves, wines, cheese, etc. The menu is interesting and driven by the quality of the produce, which is largely... More

We stumbled upon Babylonstoren after a short drive from Franshhoek. The Gardens and the surrounding area are very beautiful and this place is one of the hidden secrets of the region. We loved it here. There are mountain bikes for the adults and children to ride whilst you are here and the kids will love the creative spaces and the... More

At last we got a booking here (made 3 months ago). It is everything we have read and heard about. We shared the "red" salad which was a visual feast and both couldnt resist the trout for mains. You can't leave without a walk around the property looking at all the edible plants and vegetables. Magnificent in every way.

I had to film a segment in the gardens of Babylonstoren and got to meet some of the chefs and taste a signature red salad as well as have lunch in their Greenhouse. Babylonstoren is a master class in how to create an experience for the senses that begins the moment you get out of your car and follows you... More

We really struggled to get a booking here but it was worth it! The salads were magnificent, strange and tasty! My beef was tender and tasty. The decor is beautiful and with the mountain backdrop the views are great. Service is good but can be slow when they get full and busy. Good food and a brilliant experience. Worth the... More

Babel is a feast for the senses. The ambience, the setting, the decor, the trendy farm feel and the amazing food. The fillet was divine. Definitely a place to visit. Take a walk in the gardens after lunch, or visit the wine tasting, farm shop or deli. A perfect day outing!

I expected more. We took my Canadian parents in law for lunch. The reservation process was rather stiff and bookings only opened exactly 2 months in advance and it was always fully booked.. kind of made my imagination run out of control (mistake no 1). I expected a very high end experience and Babel is fresh, simple and unpretentious. We... More

So, if food gardens are your thing - then this place will blow your mind. Take a stroll through the gardens to the Greenhouse for a light lunch. Garden tours are also available. On arrival, there was warm honey clementine tea. I had hot chocolate, a cup of warm milk with a little bowl of choc chips on the side.... More
