Description: Monneaux Restaurant ranks among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves an inspired contemporary take on the classics. Lunch is enjoyed on the fountain terrace under a spreading pepper tree while dinner is enjoyed in the elegant but relaxed dining room in the original manor house. Set on the original site of Franschhoek's first parfumerie, today its the heavenly scent of chef Adrian Buchanans cooking that inspires at the Monneaux Restaurant, a Cape culinary classic. Even by the food & wine capital of the country's high standards, Monneaux is an extra-ordinary success, having been in the country's Top 100 list for six years consecutively, on the Top 10 list for two years and winning the American Express Platinum Award for fine dining. The underground cellar is available for private functions where dinner can be enjoyed by an impressive selection of local and foreign wines. The restaurant's bar lounge provide a comfortable environment to relax and enjoy the company you're with. The wine list emphasizes the boutique wines of the Franschhoek Valley as well as an impressive selection of other award winning wines of South Africa

We visited Franschhoek in a very awkward time of the year where 80% of the restaurants were closed for the Winter season and those that were left open seemed to be generic restaurants that one could easily find at home. We arrived at Monneaux after driving past and noticing that there was finally a restaurant open, what's more is that... More

We had high hopes after a great experience at a similarly well reviewed restaurant in franschhoek but this was nowhere near the same in all regards, except the free transfer service. The room and welcome was drab, the food unexciting and average, no offer of bread or water (!) and entertainment provided by a hotel empolyee's child running around in... More

One of the best meals I've ever had. No joke. I had the mushroom starter and the salmon trout entree and it was divine. My two companions were thrilled with their meals as well (lamb and salmon trout). The food was incredibly fresh, well portioned, beautiful, and most importantly delicious. The staff was attentive, courteous, and the whole experience was... More

We had a fine dinner here, however my wife ordered pork belly ravioli as her first course and that dish was a failure. If it didn’t say pork belly ravioli on the menu, you would have thought it was a vegetable medley with some pasta at the bottom- there were too many competing flavors so the dish was muddled. In... Our stay at the Country House and Villas included several meals at Monneaux. The food was fantastic, the service impeccable, the wine list exceptional. We had lunch on the patio upon our arrival which added to the feeling of relaxation we sought. We also had our coffee and sherry near the fireplace after dinner one night, so cozy.

Service is wonderful and food is even better. We ate here for dinner and wish we would have had lunch here too in the courtyard! Very convenient to downtown especially is you are staying at the Franschhoek Country House and Villas.

We were at the Franschoek Literary Festival and hungry for lunch. But nothing inspired us within walking distance of the lecture venues. So we drove out to Monneaux and were given a friendly welcome. The restaurant was fairly empty. There were several vegetarian options, which was most impressive (we had originally wanted to eat at Le Quartier Francais in town,... More

We visited the restaurant at short notice. We could not find another venue at zero notice for a Sunday lunch. Despite being surprised that the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and great food...

Visited the restaurant for a birthday celebration, everything was spot on from start to end.Great menu with good combination of flavors. Cocktails from the bar was good and our waiter was well knowledgeable. The tempura prawns was yummy and playful to eat with our hands. The goats cheese mousse was light and refreshing. Strawberry salad with sweet bacon was delicious... More
