Description: Monneaux Restaurant ranks among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves...
Monneaux Restaurant ranks among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves an inspired contemporary take on the classics. Lunch is enjoyed on the fountain terrace under a spreading pepper tree while dinner is enjoyed in the elegant but relaxed dining room in the original manor house. Set on the original site of Franschhoek's first parfumerie, today its the heavenly scent of chef Adrian Buchanans cooking that inspires at the Monneaux Restaurant, a Cape culinary classic. Even by the food & wine capital of the country's high standards, Monneaux is an extra-ordinary success, having been in the country's Top 100 list for six years consecutively, on the Top 10 list for two years and winning the American Express Platinum Award for fine dining. The underground cellar is available for private functions where dinner can be enjoyed by an impressive selection of local and foreign wines. The restaurant's bar lounge provide a comfortable environment to relax and enjoy the company you're with. The wine list emphasizes the boutique wines of the Franschhoek Valley as well as an impressive selection of other award winning wines of South Africa

In house restaurant at franschoek country house and villas, sod isn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. Great wine list to compliment the fine food, but lacks prompt service. Staff are generally invisible when you need something but the quality makes up for it

Had a wonderful meal here - dinner was delicious and service excellent. Portions not huge and taste was wonderful. I recommend if you are staying in Franschhoek.

Monneaux has delicious food. You won't go wrong having dinner here. There are two specific reasons to choose this over other more famous possibilities.... 1. It is subdued. If you are looking for a spot that is a bit quieter and more relaxed, this is it. The space is charming. Great for a romantic dinner or for those staying at... More

The food is delicious but the portion sizes on the tasting menu are really small. Thankfully the dessert was a little bit heavier which seemed to fill the gap or we would have been in trouble as my husband was still a bit hungry. They had a fireplace in the room which was lovely as the evening was a bit... More

A lovely relaxed dinner for 2. Impeccable service - friendly and efficient without being intrusive. We ordered the rack of lamb which we really enjoyed as well as the quail which was perfectly accompanied by a wonderful onion reduction. But the highlight was the gnocchi. With a Asian Thai twist it's one of the most delicious things I've eaten in... More

6of us had dinner here while staying onsite. It was delectable, in both appearance and taste. Our waitress was wonderfully attentive to our needs, remembered everything we ordered, who wanted what and who didn't want! If I could remember her name, i would give it because she made a good dining experience great! Thank you

Great produce, well cooked and presented. Would be better if Waiting staff wait until everyone has finished and give them five minutes to digest before they clear plates.

We stayed at the country house and organised a last minute reservation here. The dinner was fantastic, with the chef and staff super helpful when it came to sourcing me a gluten free meal. The restaurant and surrounds were just gorgeous. The wine was yummy! Best of all was our fabulous waitress. Nothing was too difficult and everything was done... More

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has a beautiful view of big trees, a stunning alfresco area and fountains. Service was good and so was the food. I was a little disappointed, as I expected something slightly more refined. We ate from the a la carte menu.
