Description: Monneaux Restaurant ranks among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves...
Monneaux Restaurant ranks among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves an inspired contemporary take on the classics. Lunch is enjoyed on the fountain terrace under a spreading pepper tree while dinner is enjoyed in the elegant but relaxed dining room in the original manor house. Set on the original site of Franschhoek's first parfumerie, today its the heavenly scent of chef Adrian Buchanans cooking that inspires at the Monneaux Restaurant, a Cape culinary classic. Even by the food & wine capital of the country's high standards, Monneaux is an extra-ordinary success, having been in the country's Top 100 list for six years consecutively, on the Top 10 list for two years and winning the American Express Platinum Award for fine dining. The underground cellar is available for private functions where dinner can be enjoyed by an impressive selection of local and foreign wines. The restaurant's bar lounge provide a comfortable environment to relax and enjoy the company you're with. The wine list emphasizes the boutique wines of the Franschhoek Valley as well as an impressive selection of other award winning wines of South Africa

Great food

Great produce, well cooked and presented. Would be better if Waiting staff wait until everyone has finished and give them five minutes to digest before they clear plates.

We stayed at the country house and organised a last minute reservation here. The dinner was fantastic, with the chef and staff super helpful when it came to sourcing me a gluten free meal. The restaurant and surrounds were just gorgeous. The wine was yummy! Best of all was our fabulous waitress. Nothing was too difficult and everything was done... More

The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has a beautiful view of big trees, a stunning alfresco area and fountains. Service was good and so was the food. I was a little disappointed, as I expected something slightly more refined. We ate from the a la carte menu.

We loved the place so much we ate here twice whilst staying at the hotel. Everything was to our expectation and more - from the excellent food to the friendly staff. As we celebrated a special occassion they also went through some trouble to make us feel special Definiftely recommend and we will be back one day!

In trying to make the restaurant stand out from a very competitive crowd, Chef, in my opinion, overcomplicated his dishes. The food was very good, the service was very good, the wine was very good - but you can do better in Franschhoek

This restaurant clearly aspires to greater things but I think that the management would benefit from a trip to a top restaurant in Europe! We opted for the tasting menu - 6 courses. The two tiny pieces (each) of bread we had on a platter were dried out and what I would normally feed to the ducks! How about some... More

Good food, nice outdoor seating area. Family friendly. Only critic is there was too much dressing in the salad - just ask for it on the side:0)

We were holidaying in South Africa with Franschhoek a stop on our Garden Route trip We had spent the day visiting wineries in the area & on a recommendation from our Wine Guide we switched our dinner date to the Monneaux They sent a mini bus to pick the 4 of us up from our accommodation which meant we could...
