Monneaux Restaurant ranks among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves an inspired contemporary take on the classics. Lunch is enjoyed on the fountain terrace under a spreading pepper tree while dinner is enjoyed in the elegant but relaxed dining room in the original manor house. Set on the original site of Franschhoek's first parfumerie, today its the heavenly scent of chef Adrian Buchanans cooking that inspires at the Monneaux Restaurant, a Cape culinary classic. Even by the food & wine capital of the country's high standards, Monneaux is an extra-ordinary success, having been in the country's Top 100 list for six years consecutively, on the Top 10 list for two years and winning the American Express Platinum Award for fine dining. The underground cellar is available for private functions where dinner can be enjoyed by an impressive selection of local and foreign wines. The restaurant's bar lounge provide a comfortable environment to relax and enjoy the company you're with. In trying to make the restaurant stand out from a very competitive crowd, Chef, in my opinion, overcomplicated his dishes. The food was very good, the service was very good, the wine was very good - but you can do better in Franschhoek

This restaurant clearly aspires to greater things but I think that the management would benefit from a trip to a top restaurant in Europe! We opted for the tasting menu - 6 courses. The two tiny pieces (each) of bread we had on a platter were dried out and what I would normally feed to the ducks! How about some... More

Good food, nice outdoor seating area. Family friendly. Only critic is there was too much dressing in the salad - just ask for it on the side:0)

We were holidaying in South Africa with Franschhoek a stop on our Garden Route trip We had spent the day visiting wineries in the area & on a recommendation from our Wine Guide we switched our dinner date to the Monneaux They sent a mini bus to pick the 4 of us up from our accommodation which meant we could... I booked this restaurant for a significant birthday occasion, and I was grateful that it was such a success. The ambience and environment set the scene for a fantastic meal, with continuous understated attention from Candice. The food was truly delicious with clever pairings and unusual elements, but they worked together in every dish. Quality cooking and service deserves to... More

A fantastic three week trip on the Garden route ended up with a stay in Franschoek, the one place where we hadn't booked restaurants in advance. Our hotel made us a booking at Monneaux the only place that had a table. Started well as they offered to collect us from our hotel and return us after the meal, had this... More

Sitting in the cool, tree adorned courtyard on a hot summer day, my wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal and wonderful service (thank you Candice). Starters included seared salmon trout with ginger, coriander and soy titaki, and a labne salad with quail eggs and capers. Mains followed by a deconstructed moules frites with tempura mussels....Yum. We tried to book... More
