Is a great concept poorly executed. The chef offered a great fusion of tastes, unfortunately no one was introducing the courses as they arrived and the diner was abandoned to guess the different components of the dish. We thought this was creative food at its very best. To really enjoy it share the dishes and order as many as you can, they are not very big. Charming service and a lovely, new and comfortable resturant. Don't miss it

We chose the restaurant not knowing what to expect, it was not what we expected from the name, we were pleasantly surprised! We had one of the best meals we have had for a long time. Listen to what the staff recommend and you will not go wrong. The fusion of flavours and textures work well and the portions substantial.... More

Our first visit Ryan's new restaurant. The concept of small sharing plates is new and exciting, some hot some cold, not necessarily following the traditional 3 or 4 course option, the flavours and textures are amazing and the sharing concept enables you to enjoy 7 or 8 dishes or more! Must be the best dining experience in the Winelands!

Having visited this restaurant before we knew what we were in for and we were delighted that it was just as good as last time! Some things to note before you go to Ryan's and complain: This restaurant is known for the tasting menu, order it. If you don't then listen to the staff when they recommend a specific amount... Though I thought the food was very tasty and well presented, the idea of ordering small portions and sharing is not for me. The suggestion by our waitress that we order 4 portions per person, maybe okay if you have a big appetite, but very expensive compared to most restaurants in Franshoek. Must add the desserts were excellent.

Chaos decended on our table as we opted for the tasting menu and wine pairing that even the waitress was confused by. Mismatched dishes and odd wines at odd times, liquids in test tubes and a tool box of bread. Oh dear. I'd mention the food but I can't remember it, just the relief when I got to leave.

Ryan has moved to the other end of the main road. It is now a modern, glass fronted restaurant. The concept is that you order a number of plates (they suggest 8 although we managed on 5) and they decide which order to serve them in! The only drawback is that you don't necessarily have the wine you would prefer... More

I am well travelled and am fortunate enough to eat in many fine restaurants. Ryan's kitchen came highly recommended but I found the food poor and the service average.

What a Brilliant Subtitute. We were booked in for dinner by la Petite Dauphine. Not knowing what to expect in dining it was an Expieriance that is contemporary South Africa. We chose 8 units and are served at controlled times,a bit like Tapas but not all at once. The Expieriance is tasting the infusions and delicacies. That's the only way... More
