Recently was in Franschhoek with my wife and two friends for a couple of days break. We tried Ryan's Kitchen on our first evening and were delighted with the delicious meal. Starters of cheese croquets and brinjal (eggplant) dumplings were very tasty. Mains of beef cheeks and kingklip proved excellent and we finished with souffle, Amarula panna cotta and a... More

One of my most memorable dinners of the year. The food was beautiful to look at, but because we do not order food to just look at it, we dived right in. Each mouthful was a flavour explosion. Clever, well thought out combinations matched each other perfectly. You can watch the dedicated team of chefs in the open plan kitchen,... More

I was in Franschhoek in April with friends and one evening wanted to have a light dinner. Ryan's was recommended by our B&B - what a find! They have 'small' plates so you can easily satisfy any appetite by putting a group of them together. We had Kingklip, organic salads and some wonderful cheeses. They also had a very nice... More

Ryan's food is innovative, extremely tasty and he uses spices very well bringing about heavenly flavours. The tasting plates give you the opportunity to taste a collection of his delectable dishes. I had the kingklip, macaroni and lamb ending off with the best soufflé ever. I am keeping my eyes on the Eat Out top 20 list- I believe he... More

A visit to Ryan's is a must for any foodie. The tastes and textures of the dishes are absolutely amazing. The unique plating setup allows you to taste many different dishes. The 3 dishes I tried were all excellent and rounded off with a delicious soufflé. We will be back very soon.

The portions are tiny by American standards (yet diabetes is prevalent in our country so...). They charge for the bread per person so be careful if they ask you if you want bread. That being said everything we ordered was delicious. The place is clean and the service friendly.

Don't expect the ordinary from this cosy and well - appointed restaurant in its new home at Place Vendome, just as you enter the village. The portions are relatively small (but appropriately priced) and the menu can almost be treated as a hybrid tasting menu. The dishes are really unusual, interesting and superbly cooked and presented. The wine-list and beverage selection... More

Strange food with to much spices, small portions for a way to high price. Disappointing experience, they had for a wile a chef from grand Provence but he left as well.
