A treat

I would recommend a meal at Ryans Kitchen as his food involves clever combinations, is well presented and ofcourse, delicious. There are a number of dining places in Franschoek but all are more-of-the-same so if you want to treat yourself go to Ryans Kitchen for a splurge. Wine list was a bit weak... read more

Strange food with to much spices, small portions for a way to high price. Disappointing experience, they had for a wile a chef from grand Provence but he left as well.

During our annual visit to the Franschhoek Literary Festival we dined again at Ryan's Kitchen and what a great experience. Although our excellent waitress recommended 4 dishes per person we made do with two each and shared the soufflé, it was more than enough. The Kingklip in a Thai broth is outstanding and the pork jaws were a new experience.

We shared a most perfect birthday dinner with very special friends at Ryan's Kitchen on Saturday evening. The restaurant was dedicated to this function for the evening, and there were at least 40 people there. The selection of tapas-sized dishes was absolutely mind boggling. Not only was each one beautifully presented, but the mixture of flavors and textures was beyond... More

Unsure of what to expect following glowing recommendations, we needed some help from the waitress to explain the dishes & concept behind them. The explanation left us still a little unsure. The food was very good, presentation excellent, but maybe too much going on on each plate as regards flavours and textures. Some dishes seemed overly bland, others where flavour... More

The food is sublime but the guava souffle is hands down the most delicious dessert I've ever eaten! Didn't want it to end. The texture and taste was beyond.

We love all things Franschhoek and went in search again for Ryan's Kitchen. We were disappointed when we couldn't find the original restaurant but then delighted when we found that Ryan's Kitchen had moved up the road ! We went for dinner and decided to order several small plates, instead of the degustation. If we went again, we would probably... More

After damp squib that was Le Bon Vivant, and the Slow BBQ beef debacle at Foliage, we felt a bit jaded with the high end fayre in Franschhoek. We had made a lunch reservation on the day we left Franschhoek at Ryan's Kitchen on the back of a recommendation from the owner of a B&B in Cape Town, and we... More

This restaurant is a relatively new arrival on the scene in Franschhoek. We found the ambiance to be nice and friendly, and the service also friendly and quite efficient. The food is basically South African dishes, which are individually deliberately relatively small so as to encourage consumption of a range of alternatives. We found the food very tasty and quite...
