Description: Kalfi's Restaurant now Hans and Marida's Owner-operated Kalfi's Restaurant has been a firm village favourite since 1992 - especially for those looking for a good serving of home-cooked and traditional meals. Kalfi's has recently changed hands and the new owners are Hans and Marida Olivier from Kimberley and Durbanville respectively. The famous chicken pie is back by popular demand and a few new items are making an appearance, pork spare ribs, A selection of sweet treats is also on offer. Home-baked cakes, scones and lemon meringue. While doing good by customers goes without saying, new menus will honour staff by naming the dishes they believe they're best at after them. Anyone for Beralise's Bobotie or George's Ice Coffee? Only at Kalfi's, of course!

I went to Hans and Marida's place with a group of friends on our way to continue wine tasting. We were warmly welcomed by the staff. We ordered the sample platter for two and it was delicious. I enjoyed the food and cozy environment of the restaurant.

We are from Port Elizabeth and it was our 1st visit to Franschoek . We googled beforehand and decided to go to Kalfi's. Lovely food and lovely people. Will definitely go again :-)

We used to go to Kalfi's almost every Sunday, but sadly it just lack that special feeling.... It feel a bit overpriced, and in general not the same ambiance it used to have. We've decided to check out other restaurants in Franschoek and believe me, there is quite a choice for bikers.

Nothing outstanding. The food was average, the chips was fried in old oil and one could immediately taste it. However, we were so hungry that we didn't complain. We were also not in a mood for sending food back and forth. In future, we would definitely consider other options for breakfast.

I recently visited Franschhoek on a rainy day and had a crave for a good malva pudding. My sister and I walk up and down looking for a place to relax with my family and enjoy a LEKKE pudding. At last we were directed to Kalfi's Restaurant and what a supprise. I was served with the best malva pudding ever... More

I have visited Kalfi's three times during the last three months and enjoyed consistently good service and excellent food on all three these occasions. The servings are generous and the prices, very reasonable. Whether it's peak season or a quiet evening, my experience has always been good.

Well located, a welcome log fire on a chilly evening and pleasant staff. But, oh dear, the worst plate of food in recent memory. I think the component parts had been stored in the fridge, thrown together and bunged in the microwave. The pasta was gummy and the bolognese sauce had a strange, discomfiting texture.

We wanted to try South African food and the restaurant looked nice. We sat on the terrace, all good so far. I asked for the bobbity for starter. The waitress told me that they were doing a good garlic mushrooms. All I said was they sounded nice and that's what I got instead of the bobbity. I asked for a... More

Welcoming servers. Quite nice pickled fish, almost as I remembered it from decades ago, but a richer curry sauce would have improved it. Good steak but too much sugar in the sweet potato dish. Not enough fresh options e.g. a good salad and, later, a fresh fruit salad would have been welcome.

Kalfi's has changed hands and our visit was a disappointment after our previous visit a year ago. The new owners have for some reason installed televisions in the restaurant, turning it into more of a cafe/tv lounge than a restaurant. A bit unexpected and not entirely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the food is not up to the same standard and we were... More
