A really pleasant place to drink good coffee!

Not a lot to say that isn't in that heading. The main road in Franschhoek is serious Restaurant Strip. They all look good, but this is one of the more attractive ones. All four of us thought the coffee was excellent.

we have been going to Dutch East for many years and it never disappoints. Although there was no electricity everything was under control, the service excellent and the food good, never mind the setting.

Being in Franschhoek for a few days meant that we were able to sample the many culinary delights the town has to offer. Dutch East Restaurant did not disappoint. Great service and great food. Thank you so much

As this was the only restaurant I went to of the several that are set along the main street in Franksschoek, I can't compare it to the others. Its starched white tablecloths on the square tables set under large sunshades gave a good first impression, though. This was borne out by an interesting menu with the food turning out to... More

The restaurant staff were friendly and eager to please. There were plenty of vegetarian options and I enjoyed their seafood dishes.

We were in Franschoek for 2 weeks, which once we realised how far everything was away felt like a nice escape. The party itself was about 20, though my girlfriend and I decided to try out Dutch East as a couples escape and boy we were impressed. I had the Fish starter and my partner the sweet potato and ginger... More

4 of us on touring holiday. Had booked this restaurant from UK having read reviews and we were not disappointed, we even booked again at the end of our short stay in Franschoek. Mushroom risotto was amazing, service friendly, excellent wines which did come with a wine bucket, we even put the bottle back in the bucket when we had... More

We went for dinner at Dutch East on 1 May 2015. The menu is certainly exciting & different. My husband had the pork neck on bone which was delicious. I ordered the braised pork belly -alas the buttom part of the pork was badly burnt otherwise this would've been a perfect dinner. Hence the nit so great review. I informed... More

Having been left without a table at Haute Cabriere for Sunday lunch (see separate review) four of us from the UK ventured into Franschhoek village without a reservation. We were welcomed very warmly to Dutch East and shown to the only empty table outside. It was a great spot to do a bit of people watching and eat a very... More
