We ate in Cafe des Art the night before attending a wedding in Franschook. The meal was, without double, the best meal we had while in South Africa. We were a large party and the food was served fresh, straight from the pan. Wonderful food and the ambiance was great.

We booked dinner for a large group of 24 people for the night before our wedding. The restaurant came recommended from many of our vendors and we can see why. Suffering from lactose intolerance I can often be a chefs nightmare but even under the pressure of a large group booking they were unbelievably accommodating with the chef personally delivering... For a restaurant to survive in Franschoek requires a little something. Cafe des arts has it..super chilled, good food, great outdoor spot (in summer). Had a wonderful evening last night under the stars & breeze. Seared Tuna really good. Took our own wine which was already open & no charge for corkage. A must for any visitor to Franschoek

We booked this restaurant on the basis of reviews on TP. We didn't know what to expect and were surprised at the location hidden down an alley in the town. The restaurant lived up to its name as there was a lot of pictures on the wall and a small shop/gallery at the back. The food and wine were very... More

Great food in a busy place. Nice atmosphere along with good service. It was just a shame that they assumed that they could keep the change from the bill! It was given back to us when we asked! But the food was very nice.

Sat outside, short menu written on blackboard looked promising. We discussed the wine with a knowledgable waiter who suggested something slightly cheaper than we initially choose, which was delicious. Food very good, nice fresh flavours informally presented perfectly matched the service and ambiance. Chocolate tart particularly good. Functional tables and chairs but compensated by friendly staff and flavoursome food.

Our first night in Franshoek and didn't book anywhere. Went last time we were in Franshoek a couple of years ago but fully booked when we tried to get in. Managed to get in this time and was disappointed, food, service and ambience great. I had Rock Salmon along with my friend, on Waiters recommendation, it was delicious, boys had... More

What isn't better than this for breakfast? Can't wait to go back to Franschhoek to order this again! Cappuccinos were delicious as well.

Very enjoyable meal once we eventually got to see the menu and order. Serving staff were disorganised and made the operation appear amateur. The kitchen knows what it's about though and it us worth a visit for the food.

It is a little off the main street. thus quiet and no traffic. It serves a more authentic cuisine than most other Restaurants in Franschhoek. And it really is delicious. On a nice day sitting outside is very nice.
