Sit down and wait for the amazing treats the kitchen has in store. The Tasting Room is just that ... a multiple course tasting meal of whatever is local and whatever the chef is inspired of that day. While there's apparently only one seating a night, the service was a bit fanatic and didn't fit the elegance of the occasion.... More

This is a good place to go for a great experience and fantastic service. The food was good but not to the standard that we had expected given its reputation - still well worth going to. But not cheap even without the wine pairing!

Im 57 years old. Visited this place last week. This was the biggest RIP OFF ever. Set menu for six(one didnt drink) cost R7300!!!! It wasnt the money , it was the food. A lot of noise about nothing. Every average restaurant will offer better for a fraction of the price. I wouldnt recommend it to any of my friends.... More

I had researched many of South Africa restaurants for a culinary tour and this made the list, but bottom line i wish i had spent the time on another local establishment. First reservations were denied multiple times starting three months in advance, but when I asked my accommodation to try they had no issues and we're perplexed by my failed... More

Apart from outstanding service by the friendly and well trained staff all aspects of this dining experience were most disappointing. A number of the dishes were visually unapealing and although there were some interresting flavour combinations the overall quality was not up to standard. No sign of Margot and the restaurant is clearly in decline.

There are lots of courses with unusual presentation and cooking technique but I have eaten better food on this trip. Does not live up to its worldwide restaurant rating. Very expensive by South African standards but I would agree it was worth the money.

"korkythecat" summed it up very well, in fact I was wondering if they were there the same evening we were... It is difficult to get a booking at The Tasting Room and it is ridiculously expensive! I wanted my Irish guest to experience something unique with a touch of class. We opted for the 8-course food and wine pairing, but... More

Daring diners will enjoy a creative culinary journey at The Tasting Room. We were delighted not only by the unusual flavor combinations but also the clever presentation - foie gras that looked like little chocolate bars for one! The manager was also great in explaining pairings and ideas to us whenever we asked. Be warned however that this fun evening... More
