I'll begin with saying that the rating should probably be 4.5 stars, because we enjoyed the dishes, the wine pairing and the service a lot (and some restaurants rated 4 stars are actually average). The place itself also has a good audience. My biggest challenge for the evening were the wines, since I have visited many of the best fine... More

We have been to a lot of star restaurants all over the world but the African style is not ours. First of all we like a well prepared table with a tablecloth. More important, we where not impressed by the food. Main courses from standard incredients as cod, octopus, pork and springbok. No tast sensations for us. The wine paring, including... More

We chose the Tasting Menu plus wine. The whole evening was fun. Staff knew what they were talking about. Not only with the food but also the wine. Not cheap but good value.

This is a restaurant in a quaint, picturesque town in The Cape's wine country. Lots of Dutch colonial hints and very dramatic scenery all visible from the restaurant, which has a huge expanse of glass opening out at the back. This restaurant focuses in the culinary senses. It's about small dishes designed to delight the palette... almost Heston Blumenthal (celebrity... More

It was a top notch dinner with excellent presentation and service. The food was excellent that touches all of your senses. The wine pairing and the food is out of this world. I do recommended for a romantic evening more than friends hangout place. The price is pretty expensive but it is worth it. I would say a once in... More

Overhyped, no atmosphere, food best described as self gratification by a chef not in touch with her clientele. We were asked to keep quiet as we were too loud! So we left mid courses. This restaurant ruined what had been a fabulous weekend in Franschoek with friends where all the other restaurants had been an absolute delight, fun and so... More

My wife and I had the 8 course tasting menu paired with wine and it was an experience and not for everyone! The food was more different than good tasty food. Some of the pairings appeared to be confused by the staff and differed from table to table. For example my wife had beer with one course and the table... More

Great restaurant! Wonderful flavours! If you get the change go there. We have eaten in quite a lot of Michelin star restaurants in Europe but this beats everything. But if you were too late to make a reservation, my advise: don't go to the Living Room, the tapas restaurant in Le Quartier Francais. 2 Weeks after eaten at The Tasting... More
