Humble on the Outside, Warm on the Inside

The Tally-Ho sits along the roadside so inauspiciously that it's easy to drive by. Inside it's decorated in an English hunting motif, somewhat unique for an Italian-American restaurant but it works. It's warm and personable inside. Nick, one of the owners stopped by our table several times to make... read more

Recommended by the marriott courtyard folks, it's looks are deceiving. Wonderful BLT with lots of bacon and tomato. Steak fries are fresh. Coleslaw is sweet and creamy. Calamari salad was tasty and large. They are accommodating to food allergies. Would recommend. Lunch menu attached.

Still the best in the area.....by far. I have tried to find a restaurant that has a similar menu. There are a few in the shore area. I have found several that serve the same meals but for the life of me, I haven't found one better. This place really surprises a lot of people. The thing I like best... More

The Tally Ho Inn is in a rather remote section of NJ 33, just west of the Garden State Parkway exit. The building is not much to look at, but inside it looks a little like a hunting lodge. You have to walk through the bar area to get to the dining room which was dimly lit. There were private... More

This place confused me - it seems to be a bar but they don't serve pub food. I had the special meat Lasagna - the portion was large and the dish was ... well ... OK. The beer on tap selection showed little imagination and offered nothing local - a real loss. Simply put, this wasn't what I was looking... More

Kate at this restaurant late on a Sunday night after a referral from the Marriorr Courtyard where I was staying. What a great find! It is in the middle of "nowhere" and don't be turned off by the facade or location. This restaurant scores high on every aspect of restaurant ratings. The menu is Italian and you can't go wrong... I visited as a traveler and sat at the bar. It took awhile for the bartender to leave the regulars to take my order. When I asked for wine selection she stated she didn't know much about wine, so didn't have a recommendation....ok. Had the shepherd's pie special and it was huge! And very tasty on a cold night. I... we live around the corner from Tally-Ho. A place with a sign & not much to it. Well, we (my family) dropped in the day after Christmas as my sons, wives & Grandsons visited the day after. It was empty, but we had heard it has a steady business. The surroundings where pleasant with set tables and tablecloths. A wall... More

Two of us went for lunch on a weekday. We had: 1. Hamburger. 2. Sausage, Peppers, Onions, & Mushrooms Sandwich. There were four other tables being served. Not busy at all. Overall, the food was bland – very little seasoning. The hamburger was dry and tasteless – although of decent size. The server offered grilled onions when the order was... More

Tally-Ho has been a favorite of my family's for years. The food is consistently delicious, the service is great, and they pour a nice glass of wine. The English pub decor may be confusing to some, but we think it adds to the restaurant's old world charm. I highly recommend the Spicy Chicken Murphy.
