This used to be our favorite restaurant, but I'm sad to say the standards are dropping. Service is fine, drinks are fine, even dessert is fine...but the food is no longer amazing. The chicken paprikash used to be to die for..now it's always watery with overcooked rubbery chicken. Wings had almost no sauce on them last time, just overcooked fried... More

I had one of their burgers with cheese (I think gruyere). Everything was delicious and cooked as asked. Service was pleasant, fast and friendly. I'm giving it only 4 stars because of the decor. It really needs an update but other than that, it's a great place to eat.

Been traveling back to NJ for years, on family issues. Budd Lake, my most recent project, has a relative dearth of good restaurants. So happy to have found Salt. Definitely a bar, with food and bar-type food at that, the menu is limited but solid. Excellent salads, good aps, good entrees. Decent wine list as well. This is also a... More

but I'm shocked by all of the positive reviews. I've been here twice and I won't go back again. None of the food is fresh, and it is all overcooked and over seasoned to hide that fact. Rude servers who don't care and are not helpful. The two times my friends and I have been they made us feel like... More

We had a meal catered here, and the food was fantastic. Wonderful, attentive service as well. Definitely recommended for their catering. I haven't been to the restaurant, so cannot comment on that, but I'm sure the food is just as good, if not better!

I love this sort of pub, with the beers (and whiskeys) listed in categories. Not a beer-snob feel, though. The menu is interesting, not just "pub grub," but I found my fish tacos had just ordinary ingredients. I will check it out again though!

Referred by the owners of the B&B in Stanhope, we drove about 10 minutes to Salt in nearby Byram, NJ. The atmosphere is casual, like a tavern in a ski area, with casual staff "find yourself a table, anywhere" and a great beer selection. The Wednesday special is a flight of four beers, the best of which was a chocolate-y... More

Salt Gastropub is on highway 206 just as you are leaving Byram. It has a large selection of beer with about 10 on tap; 9 of which are interesting rotating micros. The other is PBR for the low price of only $2. They also have a long list of beer in bottles Their food is well prepared and represents an... More
