Description: Pastaio is the Italian word for "pasta maker" which reflects our Chef's experience working as Pastaio for restaurants in New York including Eataly, where she would turn out roughly 3,000 pounds weekly. We now bring fresh handmade pasta daily to the Jersey Shore incorporating the freshest seasonal ingredients to our menu that changes each week. At Pastaio we strive to support our local produce, fish and meat, purveyors on an organic and sustainable basis. Our Menu reflects our kitchen staff experience with classical french training and the bounty of the Garden State. We are proud to utilize Pat LaFrieda Meats of New York for our meat and poultry. Ask about having your next event in our Private Party Room which can accommodate up to 50. Gluten Free Meatballs and fresh Gluten Free Pasta Available.

Passed by recently and it appears as if the restaurant has closed. A good thing and hopefully some place better will occupy the location. Ate here a few times in the summer 2013. The pasta was the best thing on the menu, but that's not saying much. The "bolognaise" sauce was a basic meat sauce: certainly not a la Bolognia.... More

Was seated @6:15, didn't see waiter for at least 20 minutes...and it proceeded to get worse. Bread arrived with a tomato gelatin aspic, thought bread was olive bread, nope raisin and hard as a rock. Was informed they ran out of regular bread. I guess there was a sale on basil because everything was over seasoned with basil. Ordered shrimp... More

Our first visit to this restaurant on Valentine's Day was a terrible experience. We got there at 6:30 and didn't get out until 9:15! The service was very slow, we watched other people get served before us who came in after us. We waited 1 1/2 hrs. for dinner. The foie gras what quite fatty and unappetizing. The duck was... More

At $27 for pasta you expect service to be there and it is just non existent. This is my fourth visit the last three have not been good, and I don't think i will go back. the food is good- burratta, costini with ricotta, cockles, orcheitte have been very good. My recent experience on a quiet night (the 1st room... More

Our first visit to Pastaio and we certainly were NOT DISAPPOINTED. We were greeted by the owner Brian and seated in the window with a great view of Spring Lake. The ambiance with perfect lighting, and exquisite historic brick walls, serves this restaurant well. Brian recommended several homemade dishes, however we all opted for the meatballs and pasta. I make... More

My husband and I had dinner with my parents here a few days ago. We were excited to find something new with an experienced Chef, having worked at Eataly in NYC. I even brought a 100 Point wine anticipating a great dining experience. Well the wine was awesome. However the meal was far from awesome and so was the service.... More

We are locals and were trying Pastaio for the first time. We made a reservation through open table a few days before. Shortly before out reserved time we received an email canceling our reservation. With a couple of phone calls, being kept on hold...they explained it away by saying that there were two reservations with the same name.STRIKE ONE!! We... More

A party of four was seated with reservation on a sat night but waited 10 mins for someone to open wine; promised ice bucket for white wine never arrived. Water came, then Parker house rolls, but no oil or butter. We finally ate them dry after they had cooled. Our order was taken about half hour after we were seated.... More

We were looking to have a good pasta dish after the fancy meals in Spring Lake. Intrigued by their "home made pasta" sign -we gave it a try. The parpadelle was thick and heavy; the pomodoro sauce was not tasty. My husband had the meatballs with linguini-the meatballs and sauce were tasteless. He didn't care for his pasta either.
