You could actually smell the freshness in our food and the chef was very entertaining and friendly! Where else could you get the chef to come out and greet the guests and demonstrate how fresh the bread is! We loved it!

A very small and interesting place to eat. My husband and I have been here about five or six times for lunch. Every time, except the last, the food was really good. The last time we were here, the usual chicken was gone, and the veggies too. We both had the eggplant that unfortunately was not good at all. It... More

Our friends in Belmar said they always wanted to eat here, so when we spent a week in town we all went together. In some ways, I could give Cafe 5 stars, but in others they'd get a 3. The food was very good and kept coming wave after wave. But I've read some reviews that described the exact same... More

Some of the reviews put the owner in a dim light because they think he is full of himself. He is just proud of really good food. The prices may seem a little high, but he tells you up front, "eat all you want!" My family probably ate four different times during the week we were there! That should tell... More

The food is always outstanding and Cosimo always greets us like we are long lost friends no matter how infrequently we are able to stop by (we do not live in the immediate area). Whenever we are in Spring Lake we make time to eat at Cafe Artist--there is nothing to like it anywhere else at the Jersey shore.

We were celebrating with friends who had heard great things about this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. From the antipasto to the peach pie and tiramisu desserts and everything in between (salad, shrimp, ravioli, meatballs, Tuscan chicken with fresh baby peas) was nothing short of delicious! The price of $45 per person including taxes and gratuity was less than we'd... More

We went for dinner based on reviews. The owner wouldn't explain what was in his $35 "five course tasting menu”. (The night before when we walked by, we saw a sign for a $25 four course menu which we had come for.) We sat anyway trusting the reviews. There was a bowl of olives and stale sliced bread on the... We brought 13 family members for dinner over the Memorial Day weekend. Cosimo, the owner, took care of us like we were a collection of his own relatives. The food was delicious, kept on coming, and was accompanied by a hospitable touch of comedy and entertainment, courtesy of the staff. By the end of the evening we were fed to... More
