Better than expected

I have been to Ria Mar before and was very disappointed. But this time was different. The service was pleasant and attentive, the food was tasty and plentiful. Perhaps it was the influence of the very tasty sangria....but this was a really great evening. Pork Piccadinho was so good. I would love... read more

My family and I have been going to Ria Mar for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoying the food and ambiance each time. This last visit, however, created a new level of excellence at this authentic Portuguese restaurant. I brought the ethnic-restaurant-dining group I organize here for the first time. There were thirty three of us and we occupied the... More

I live in Staten Island and always thought if I wanted great Portuguese food I had to drive to Newark. Then I found Ria Mar, about 20 minutes from my house. The food is as good as the finest Portuguese restaurants I have ever been to. Large portions, the clams in green sauce and garlic shrimp are to die for.... More

This was our first visit to Ria Mar and I can't wait to return. We are actually on a road trip from Massachusetts to New Orleans and visited family in this area. The menu is extensive, the food is perfectly prepared, flavorful and the portions are more than generous, the service is impeccable. We can't wait to dine here on... More

Low profile restaurant turns out to be a hidden gem. Located in a residential neighborhood for many years finding this place may be difficult but well worth the drive. Had my daughter's baby shower there and did everything via email. Room was beautifully decorated, servers were really polite to our guests and the food was out of this world. Cost... More

Great Portuguese food. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed in the food I chose. Really nice atmosphere. Only drawback is the place is small so waits are long, but worth it.

Karen and I lunched here yesterday and we couldn't be happier. Cozy home town bar / pub connected to a nice dining room which was closed for lunch. So we opted for tables near the bar. The bar and dining crowd was very casual and we were surprised to see virtually everyone drinking pitchers of sangria rather than beer. We... More

Upon first entering the restaurant, you are taken to a place with old world charm. My family and i felt we were royalty with the excellent food and service. The atmosphere is so elegant with old world charm. The food was simply outstanding - full of flavor and robust with fresh ingredients. It was such a terrific experience, we have... More

Have been going to Ria Mar since the late '90s when it was just a local neighborhood restaurant. Moved to NC in 2005 but still visit. We went there on Sat. night (12/6) with seven family members. The atmosphere is beautiful- service outstanding - portions very large. But their signature appetizer "Shrimp in Garlic Sauce" was very disappointing. In the... More
