I really enjoy the atmosphere at Mambo. The servers are super friendly. The couches are cozy and the music just right. Although I am not crazy about the entrees, the small plates and tres leches cake have us coming back again and again. I love all of the appetizers on the menu and the tres leches is truly the best... I went to this restaurant with my wife and sister in law and her hubby. Nice ambiance and decor. The service was very good and waiter very helpful. The food was ok but not traditional Cuban food. I had tostones con mojo and any decent tostones needed to be double fried. If you didn't know now you do. The shredded... More

Dined for the first time thanks to restaurant.com. We ordered beef empanadas as an appetizer, and received two good size empanadas ($5). For entree, we ordered mofongo with crispy pork chunks and pernil, which came with white rice and black beans, a cold tomato salad. The entree portions were fantastic and well worth the price. I think those were probably... More

Entered restaurant on a Saturday, 6 PM without reservations. Four people were seated at one table, the rest of the tables were empty. Host stated he could not seat us without talking to the manager. He then seated us stating our table was reserved for 8 PM. I told him if your food comes out promptly and your service isn't... More

The Mambo Tea House seems to be a popular restaurant in Rutherford, NJ, judging by the happy crowd there on a Tuesday night. We went with a family group of six, had no reservations, and were promptly seated. The restaurant does not have a liquor license but patrons can byob. The wait staff is pleasant and accomodating and the food... More

We haven't been here for a while but decided to use our dining dough to revisit. The food is not as flavorful as in the past. The mofongo with pork barely had flavor and was mushy. My husband had the fried chicken chunks which were bland. The best part were the appetizers and desserts. And the waitress is extremely slow... More

I've been here 4 times and always at a slow time of day. It has a nice atmosphere inside. Wait staff friendly but sometimes the service is slow. 3 of the 4 times I've visited (2 of us dining on each occasion) I've been seated in the very front in the alcove behind the door with customers right beside us... If you are looking for inventive and traditional Cuban/Carribean cusine in a sophisticated and trendy room with a friendly staff, then this is your place. You may be waiting for a table though on weekend nights unless you have a party of four or more. This place can get downright crowded at times. Anything you might expect like ropa vieja... More

I love everything about this restaurant. Atmosphere is great, there's often a live band playing authentic music...if you bring a bottle of wine, they make you a pitcher of delicious sangria (or rum for mojitos), and the food is always great! I am a big fan of the fried yucca, Mofongo, Arroz con Pollo y Chorizo, and the tres leche... More
