We wanted somewhere nice to take my daughter for her last night visiting, but also wanted to stay casual. Dinner at the bar fulfilled it all. Great food, outstanding service and friendly diners at the bar.

Nicholas is a NYC-style experience right here in Middletown/Red Bank. It's expensive but you get amazing food and white glove service. We always come a little early and have a drink in the bar. It's a lovely bar, quiet and with great drinks. The dining room is beautiful. The staff is attentive without being annoying. The food is phenomenal. I... More

Nicholas has an amazing reputation. I am not sure what happened in the kitchen last night. Our large party had universal complaints about our main courses. At least two members of our party did not eat their entre. I didn't complain to the staff. The fact that my plate was taken from me with an entire uneaten pork chop was... More

Nicholas is far from where my husband and I live, but we come here for special occasions or when they have the black truffle menu. The ambience, food and service all spell sophistication and class. They have an extensive wine menu and expert sommeliers who will impeccably match each course with the perfect wine pairing. It's a nice that New... More

We have been going to Nicholas since it opened over 14 years ago. We have seen the restaurant evolve, nicely. The food has always been excellent and the service top notch. When it first opened, they only served food in the main dining room. They have either a 3 course of 5 course prix fixe which is always very good.... More

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner last week at Nicholas, for our anniversary. We had never been there before, but were told it was wonderful. The lights are low and tables are nicely spaced so that there is some privacy. The decorating, though minimalist, is very pleasing. The best part of all of this, is the delicious food!... More

Service, Ambiance and food all superior. this has been a favorite of ours since it opened it's doors way back. If you ever get the chance to eat downstairs at the Chef's table for a special occasion, Nicholas, Melissa and staff make you feel like royalty.

Ate here recently on a midweek evening on a very cold night. Restaurant was sparsely populated with dining patrons. We ordered a bottle of white wine from France. Server poured the wine which was only barely chilled. Would have expected a restaurant with such a distinguished reputation for fine wines to have better prepared their servers regarding proper temperature for... More

My boyfriend had taken me to Nicholas for Valentines Day and it was perfect. The ambience was perfect for an intimate date night, tables were not too packed together and the wine list was endless. The food was delicious but for the prefixed menu it may not be enough for a grown man (luckily they offered unlimited bread, which could... More

After reading the reviews I couldn't wait to try Nicholas. I was solo on business so I sat at the bar, decent atmosphere. I had oysters for an appetizer, they were ordinary. I ordered the lamb and it was good. That's it. Just good. I was hoping to have my socks knocked off, but that didn't happen. A martini, a... More
