Great place for a drink and pasta. Love the down home atmosphere. Drinks aren't watered down. No menus, everything on a blackboard. My sons both love the place.

I don't understand all of the raving, unless we went on an off night. The food was only ok. The restaurant is dark and crowded and the tables are cramped. That would have been fine if it truly was the awesome food I was expecting, given the reviews. The food was only ok, with the exception of my daughter's penne... More

Order the pasta and you'll eat supper (well) for two or three days! Nothing fancy, but a good bar, no menus (dishes are listed on the chalkboards), WONDERFUL meat sauce, rigatoni, meat balls, with salads and GREAT Italian bread and butter - perhaps five choices for dessert (we shared a tartufo - enough for two). Wonderful looking steak parmigiana, old... More

Delicious food and generous portions at a fair price! I have been there with friends and family and no one has ever been disappointed. Their menu includes all of the standard Italian classics, such as baked pasta dishes, stuffed peppers, shrimp scampi and steak. The wait staff has always been friendly and attentive. This casual restaurant and bar is located... More

Espo's in Raritan, NJ. Read some bad reviews mixed in with the good so I expected the worse when I went here with my wife, (Feb. 2014). Fortunately I am happy to report that this place is great. Its small but in a good way, it is rather dark, and it's true that there are no menus, just the blackboards,... More

I've been coming here for 10+ years and have never had a bad meal. Yes, the menu is on a chalkboard in a few spots, it's dark and loud, and can get crowded. They don't take reservations but there is a long bar you can grab a drink (or your meal at). They have delicious classics - Eggplant and Chicken... More

Typical after work bar/restaurant...dark, noisy, and crowded. The Italian food is average. With about 60 seats (including a dozen bar stools, Espo's is not a place to comfortably enjoy a meal. We had a table for 6. One end was against a wall and the other was too close to the bar to avoid getting bumped by anyone passing, including... More

Very casual dining at its best. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food is Italian comfort food. The portions are large and cooked just like mamma makes it. The place is small so expect to wait (but it is worth it!). It's also a bit dark and noisy when full - but that adds to the atmosphere. I believe... More
