A neighborhood gem!

My friends and I have been enjoying Espo's for years. It's cozy, welcoming and has great comfort food. Their eggplant parm is just about the best I've ever had. The staff is terrific. The service is great. When I went the last time, I intended to take a photo of my meal for this review, but as soon... read more

Nice small restaurant with amazing Italian food. If they had steak on the menu, I'm sure I would live there. The service was great and personal. In the winter, I'd just suggest sitting away from the front door - tables right next to the door really catch the draft when people enter.

When growing up in the area, Espo's was a frequent family favorite. Returned recently and was quite disappointed. The food was mediocre and the service was average. What most struck me was how crowded, noisy and gloomy it was. What a disappointment!

We ate at Espo's a couple days before christmas, we were welcomed and squeezed into the packed restaurant! we have lived in the area for years, and this was our first time there. we were shocked to find such a great little place! it seemed that everyone who walked in the door knew the staff by name, and the staff... Espo's is a smallish restaurant with bar in Raritan NJ. We visit there on occasion and every time the food is outstanding. The other night it was chicken cacciatore and veal parmigiana. The portions are large and there is no reason to go home hungry. Odds are you'll take part of your portion with you. The braciole is another favorite... More

Great service, home style atmosphere and good Italian food. Espos is a place where you go to dine on home style Italian food in a local bar/restaurant atmosphere, The presentation and gourmet food seasonings are not there on some of the dishes but they are fresh prepared and enjoyable. I found their tomato sauce recipe far too sweet for my... More

You enter a relatively small restaurant with a long bar to the right. Somehow, you are immediately welcomed by the bar staff and waiting for your chance to eat great Italian home style cooking. The bar staff remembers who came when and you are lead to your table just in the right order. - and probably when you have salivated... More

This is as basic as it gets. A neighborhood bar and restaurant on a back street which makes an excellent red sauce. Yeah, the linguine and white clam is good, as well but this is basic southern Italian food made well with no pretensions. BTW, the bread from a local bakery that comes with the meal is as good as...
