Good value for the food offered

This place offers a variety of Chinese food, they also have a few home-made type of dishes that you won't be able to find in a typical buffet, such as the Chinese style fried pancake, fried Chinese broccoli and for dinner , decent Peking duck. If you are hungry and want to fill your stomach without... read more

Crab legs are a popular choice at this restaurant. I could not believe that it took the kitchen staff MORE than half an hour to replace the empty tray of crab legs. I could not believe the staff did not notice, apparently, and did not pick up off the floor, the crab leg that some diner dropped. Easily some other... More

The fact that people say this is one of the better Chinese buffets in the area is utterly frightening to me, because I can't imagine lower quality food than what you'll find at Super Star East. Really, I don't expect much from a buffet...my standards aren't high. But there is nothing on the buffet here that is half as good... More

There are hundreds of chinese buffet in NJ. They are all similar, about $10/person during weekend lunch time. Most of the food in East Star is like the other buffets'. I come here mainly for the 10%of the dish that other buffets don't have: soup dumplings, toasted bread with dried minced meat(肉松饼)皮蛋瘦肉粥congee, fried dough油条, etc. these are typical chinese breakfast... The selection is always good, as is the service. They also do sushi and hibachi. The dim sum is good too.

We went to Star Buffet couple of weeks back. As we were eating, the waitress came to us and told us that each can only have a plate of Snow Crab. This conflict the word "BUFFET" which means all you can eat and not waste the food. The other food selection is just OK. Tasted more like American Chinese and... More

This Chinese buffet is more authentic than other ones in the area. The food you can tell is different than other mainstream buffets. One drawback is that the other night, they were "low on crablegs" and only allowed for 1 plate per person. We still paid full price for the buffet. The sesame chicken is out of this world delicious!... More

Great Buffet. Not your typical Chinese buffet. You can tell as soon as you walk in that they take pride in their place. Food always seemed to be "moving". There were, as expected, some "heavy hitters" grazing by the crabs. Lucky the crabs could even make it to the tray/bin. You have be become assertive and aggressive around crabs and... More

Most importantly, the restaurant is clean, and the serving area is also kept up very well. It does not have the greasy smell that many Chinese buffet has. The Chinese dim sum is especially noteworthy. The shrimp dumpling (har gao) and steamed BBQ pork bun (char siu bao) tasted similar to those at a real dim sum restaurant. The fried... More
