Return after a long absence.

My wife and I used to visit this restaurant when it was across the street from it's current location almost 27 years ago. It was just "The Mexican Village" back then. We ate here so many times and had such great memories, that I actually proposed to her there. After more than 20 years of being... read more

I had heard good things about Tortuga's, so I was excited to try it. My fiancée, sister, and I went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was almost dead, with only one or two other tables there. To start, we ordered the guacamole and a chicken quesadilla. Both appetizers came out within two minutes of ordering. Unfortunately, the guacamole... More

I have eaten here on several occasions and have really enjoyed the meal in the past. I always thought the food was authentic. However, the last visit was a disappointment. It might have been the time of day (Sunday evening) but the meal was not as good as I was expecting. The food was not hot and believe it or... More

I am an easy mark for great Mexican food and for over 20 years, this fantastic establishment has been and continues to be my favorite restaurant of any kind in town. Great people taking care of your every need. Awesome chips made in house accompanied by out of this world salsa. Fresh ingredients, perfectly combined make every dish extraordinary. The... More

We have visited Tortuga's many times and have always had excellent food. Our preferred item is their Carne Asada, which is grilled skirt steak in one piece, but served Fajita Style. The meat is very tasty and properly seasoned. However, beware that they do not take credit cards. As a nice extra, they also give you free chips and salsa... More

Pros: Good cost, good service and most of the options are very tasty. Large portions. Cons: Sometimes a long wait, must pay with cash, and there isn't much that is very unique about the place. Summary: This is above average when it comes down to Mexican food and is definitely one of the better options for this type of cuisine... More

I should first of all start by mentioning that spicy Mexican cuisine is a favourite of mine so I may be more critical than the average person in Princeton! Let's start with the food... The portions at Tortuga's Mexican Village are huge but the quality and presentation of the food is a bit varied. The fajitas, burritos and tacos are... More

Large portions. Good food. Cash only. Nice place that's off the beaten path but worth the trip. It's a residential neighborhood so parking is easy to find.

The location is difficult to find and they take cash or check only, but the food is very authentic and tasty. I would recommend to anyone in the Princeton area for mexican food.
