Owners from Florence

I had the nicest surprise the first time I visited Gelavino. You see, there's a photo in the shop of the owners' parents' former gelateria in the neighborhood near where I lived in Florence as a student in 1967. There were 90 of us Americani and we often hung out at Cavini, as it was called. The... read more

Standard Gelato joint, like one might find in Rome. But Princeton has the Bent Spoon, so why would anyone bother with decent when they can get Sublime nearby?

When you meet people from all over Italy who drive the distance to Princeton, you KNOW this gelato is the real thing. Flavors are always changing, selection will not disappoint, and they have sorbet choices. Can sit outside if you desire. They have espresso machine to go with a light Italian meal or pannini.

Been here twice and the gelato is great . It is located in the Princeton Shopping Center on Harrison. It has the feel of a coffe house and there is much more to try than just the Gelato. You may never want ice cream again.

This place is a gem. Its name is misleading. Yes, they serve wonderful gelato but that is just a small portion of this nice café. Their coffee is very good and they have a good selection of teas. If you have a sweet tooth, they have plenty of deserts to choose from. And the wraps and soups are terrific. Free... More

Surprised by so few reviews, however we are all repeating basic truth, we have been to Italy and this shop gives you true Italian Gelato. I purchase gelato & sorbets by the pound and keep them on hand. Flavors are always changing, therefore you get choices. Happy to let you taste their flavors.

Few things in life have made me happier than sitting outside of a gelato shop in Italy devouring the delicious frozen treat that Americans rarely get right. Stopping at Gelavino is like sitting at a little table in Rome (albeit without amazing scenery). The gelato is absolutely wonderful. If you have only had Americanized gelato, do yourself a favor and... More

This is the real deal! Our standard evaluation of gelati is the nocciola and pistachio flavors. Only the Itlaian nuts give these gelati the distinctive flavors you find in Italian artisanal gelaterias. This place serves gelato that is as good as what you find in Italy, and does it with joy. We have re-routed our trips into Princeton occasionally just... More
