I just came back from dinner at The Peacock Inn and will find it very hard to be convinced to return. When you charge the prices they do,it needs to be more than the just the food. The experience is almost equally important. We sat down at a wobbly table and when asked to help the resolve the situation, the... More

I've dined at the Peacock Inn four times in two years, with groups of ten and four and two. The tasting menu is well balanced and inventive, with no repeated flavors or effects. Service is attentive but not hovering. No, the staff isn't made up of veteran waiters; this isn't Paris - but excellent nonetheless. The Peacock beats Virginia's Inn... More

My wife and I had the 5-course tasting menu which was limited to two options per course. Everyone at the table has to have the tasting menu if selected. Every dish we selected was superb. Especially good in our opinion were the scallops and the duck breast. Portions were small but adequate for us. Wine is expensive ,tough to find... More

For all of the local brouhaha, I was entirely underwhelmed by the food. Having eaten across Europe and regularly at excellent restaurants in Manhattan, Peacock brandishes its feathers but without substance. The service was excellent generally. They accidentally gave our doggy bag to someone else which disappointed the teens.

This restaurant is trying hard to be a top notch establishment. The food is good, fresh but, truth-be-told, could be more inventive/ could have more intensity. The wait staff is kind and attentive, though they seemed to forget we were there. I think the place needs to bring in a consultant to smooth the rough service edges. The wait staff... More

The large Victorian home is beautiful outside with lots of lovely plants and landscaping. Make reservations a week or so in advance. Their is free valet service with very friendly parking attendants. Large front porch. When we entered we were greeted appropriately and our coats were taken. Our servers were polite and well dressed and very professional. We had the... More

The last time I was here must have been over 15 years ago. There's been quite an improvement. The current setting is intimate and comfortable. The three of us ordered nine dishes; an appetizer, entree, and dessert each. We felt that the scallop appetizer, the salmon entree, the warm toffee cake dessert, and the cheese plate were the standouts, although... More

We had a celebratory dinner here and opted for the 5 course tasting menu at $95 per person. The building has been tastefully renovated. Beginning with the complimentary valet parking and nice landscaping out front, it is obvious that there has been much thought given to this establishment. The dining room is very attractive and uncluttered with a modern feel.... More

Decided to dine here before the theater based on reviews. Fresh ingredients, creative preparations, extensive well priced wine list in a gorgeous setting. The highlight if the meal was the best warm sticky date toffee pudding I have eaten outside of Sydney. Highly recommend a visit before an evening at the McCarter.

We ate in the restaurant and had the tasting menu with the grand wine pairing. We both enjoyed our choices but the gnocchi was fabulous, the wine was generously poured and the service was impeccable.
