Description: Spano's Ristorante Italiano is a wonderful little store front restaurant just like you see in Brooklyn, with a quaint interior featuring oversized comfy booths and Italian music to complete the ambiance. The restaurant gets bustling after 6pm, and on weekends there can be quite a wait. The good news is they're open 7 days a week, so you can get the same amazing food on Tuesday without a wait. Speaking of the food, its authentic old world Italian prepared by Chef Joseph Spano. All ingredients are fresh, never frozen...fresh local fish and seafood, the highest quality veal, cut and pounded daily for the Veal dishes, Same with the chicken and eggplant, all prepared fresh daily. Spano's marinara sauce is the original winner of the Boss of the sauce contest sponsored by a local radio station and featuring all of the Shores Italian restaurants, as voted by a panel of judges and the general public. All of our ravioli, cheese filled, lobster, and specialty (like roasted butternut squash, or Osso Bucco) are handmade. They make the dough, they make the filling, and they stuff and cut each ravioli by hand. The portions are oversized, and the prices are very reasonable. They have an extensive menu and use only Certified Angus Beef, many of the dishes can be seen on their Facebook page at spanosristoranteitaliano and they open daily at 4pm. 7 days a week. With homemade desserts like the NY cheesecake, tiramisu, bread pudding and apizza dolce (Italian ricotta cheesecake) and delicious Cappuccino to finish off your meal, you can't go wrong at Spano's!

Visited on Labor Day weekend, which was brave. Got there early enough to avoid the wait warned about on this site. Service was excellent and food was very, very good. Nice to have another BYOB option. Location has a public lot directly across the street, so mid town location is no problem. Definitely worth a try.

This Italian restaurant is POPULAR! There is always a wait on summer weekends, but it's worth it. The menu includes all your standard Italian favorites, made well and with generous portions. My teenage boys LOVE it - and I love it because no one leaves hungry and we often bring home leftovers (and leftovers make my life SO much easier).... More

Returned this year after a great experience last summer and were pleased once again. Best cannoli we ever had!

Wow. We went because of the reviews and the menu choices and we were not disappointed! Lovely bread and bruschetta to begin. We ordered calamari which was fine and garlic shrimp which was much better. The meal I chose was the seafood lobster. It was so yummy. My husband chose the Spano's special with sausage, and seafood over pasta. He... More

Three of us walked in to this restaurant as first timers on a Saturday evening at 6:30pm without reservations with little hope of getting a table…surprisingly, the hostess was able to seat us in 20 minutes into an already crowded restaurant. The food was a complete surprise as it surpassed our expectations for authentic italian in a shore town. The... More

I would have given a "good" rating for this restaurant if tripadvisor had this rating between "average" and "very good". Therefore, I give a "qualified very good" rating. Let me explain: on Sunday we went to the Jersey Shore and decided to stay for dinner. On Tripadvisor recommendation we went to Spano's. We arrived around 6:45 and were told by... More

After finding Spanos listed on Trip Advisor, we decided to try them. A rough start without a reservation on a Friday night. But the hostess was so polite. A Real Italian welcome. The staff was attentive to our needs. Seemed as if we had several waitresses. The food, authentic and plentiful. Even after our meal the hostess made sure to... More

The food was absolutely delicious and the sauce was excellent. The ambiance and accomodations were great! This was my first time eating at this restaurant, but I would highly recommend it. I had a wonderful seafood dinner!!

We arrived a little after opening time at 4:00PM and were seated immediately. We passed on the appetizers and ordered our entrees. Ours came with soup or salad, potato croquette or Italian vegetable medley. My wife ordered the chicken francese, and I ordered the flounder francese. We both ordered salads, but mine had an overabundance of balsamic vinaigrette. We both... More

My wife, 14-month old baby, and I went out to eat after a day at the beach a couple of weeks back. We found Spano's simply because of the good rating here at TripAdvisor. However, we'll never go back. We were seated for our meal (we had the cheese-filled gnocchi, which was quite tasty, and is the only reason this... More

Dear Bernard, I was waiting for your review, as when you left that night, you stated that if we didn't acquiesce to your demands, you "would write a bad review", and true to your word, here it is. Let's get the facts straight. Right on our menu it clearly states that there is a sharing charge of $5.00. You don't... More
