We had been meaning to try this place for a while, so here we were, meeting 2 friends to catch up over a nice meal. Well, was I suprised!(and not in a good way). We are a young couple that eats out in phila, nj, and everywhere at least 3 times/wk, so we know good restaurants/service. When we arrived, there... More

Hubby and I decided to give this rest a try...I liked the idea of a real family atmosphere...the owner a British snob was obnoxious to say the least! I overheard her berating some poor kitchen worker and it just made me feel very uncomfortable! The food was also nothing to brag about..I had a chicken dish and hubby had the... More

Went on Saturday night before going to the Broadway Theater and had reservations. Service was good and chef was accommodating to a gluten free member of our party. For was ok, but expensive, the bill for 2 people before tip was $75 for 2 salads, entrees, and 1 dessert. Things were ok until the owner began to sing. She does... More

We had theatre tickets for Saturday night and thought it would be a good idea to dine at Sweet Lula's, across the street from the theatre, so made reservations. While our dinners were all right, they were nothing special. Caesar salad was over dressed, if not soggy; pea/ham soup was actually served in a skinny brown plastic coffee cup, was... More

I was in there for lunch. The food did not seem fresh what so ever . I asked the waitress if the desserts were house made and she assured me that they all were. It disturbed me however , when it looked to me she walked in with two pies from a whole sale house . Not a good experience... More

So went to Lulas for lunch for a birthday. The atmosphere was very interesting. There were only three tables seated, and they had old Bugs Bunny cartoons playing on the large screen. Didn't get too excited about that. So knowing its lunch time, you would think the waitress would pick it up a notch knowing people only have so much... More

Over rated, over priced and you are forced to hear the owner belt out songs at a decibel level just under that of a jack hammer or jet taking off. Four of us had reservations for 6:30 PM on a recent Saturday night. Lula was at the door but seating us was below her level so she called over one... More

Have eaten here numerous times and have a locker there as well. One of the best restaurants in all of South Jersey. Where else can you get great food(duck is oh so good), great ambiance, live entertainment on most Saturdays(Lula has a professional vice and English accent), with dancing, as well as silent movies for well under what you might... Sweet Lula's is the kind of place you either love (and become a regular) or hate (why did I ever go there?). For my wife and I, it felt like we were among friends, breaking bread and sharing stories. Lula greeted us and showed us to our tables (yes, there is a Lula). Her husband is "the Chef." The menu... More

So… we dined at Sweet Lula’s on a recent Friday evening. We knew that Fridays and Saturdays are often problematic here as they typically receive a huge crowd between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., prior to the 8:00 p.m. show at the Pitman Theater, just across the street. The number of guests seems to over-stress the kitchen and staff during these... More
