Great Fun to see and be seen - if you are a Local

I was expecting a high end steak house after driving by many times on my travels to New York State and beyond. Imagine my surprise when I enter a Burger joint from the 50's and thought I spotted the "Fonz" at the far end of the dining hall. O.K., it's an interesting concept with three or... read more

Not much has changed at the Fireplace since we started going there in the 60's as kids. It really is a place that will take you back to the innocence of childhood and the neighborhood burger joint from the 60's. The food is average but their homemade pickles are the best! There is ample seating capacity in the knotty pine... More

Two visits for lunch this trip. Fries were really good but way too much sauerkraut which drenched the hot dog bun. Fun place to eat at though if your from the area.

We recently met up with family for breakfast at the Fireplace. There were 10 of us and there was no problem with seating. I loved that you just order at the counter and find a seat! The food was very good, endless coffee. The price was right, too! Very enjoyable time, will return and try the lunch menu!

One of the best cheese steak hoagie's I've ever had. Love the char broiled burgers and dogs too. Fast food at it's best!

This 50 year old Route 17 roadside restaurant is quite a few steps up from fast food. Serving hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, pizza, breakfast etc at counters located throughout the facility by a slew of servers. Seating at picnic type tables throughout the multiple dining areas. Everything is quite good & very reasonably priced.

I have so many fond memories of my father and I going here when I was a kid. I went to Bergen Catholic right down the road and we would head over here on occasion after practices etc. The value was great and it was cool because the place was kind of a quality throwback of a time gone by.... More

Back in the 70's your first trip to the Fireplace was a coming of age. To young for clubs so this was the place for the tweeners. You felt grown up. In those days some nights you had enough money for a coke and then would eat the free pickles of course when you had enough for the burger and... More

Old School joint like you only find in Jersey. An institution. You must know what you going to get in a place like this and The Fireplace will deliver it. Smooth operation. I'd wish it was less expensive for sure. My second time here and I'll be back. The fixins bar is straight up.

This is actually my second visit. I remember the first visit being a bit disappointing, food was greasy and messy to handle. Today's visit was different, the food was tasty, filling and although it was burgers and fries it was not messy to handle and didn't have a greasy taste. I love the condiment bar, onions pickles etc. nice touch.
