I was with my husband just for some food, but we were delighted , the food is exquisite, the dishes are delicates, the place is clean, and friendly staff. We really love this place, and is one of our favorites in Newark.

I kept hearing this was number 1 rated... eh, I was not that impressed. There was a whole list of specials, so I chose Sea Bass off the list of specials, only for the waiter to come back a few minutes later and tell me they were all out of sea bass. Um, ok. I asked him what I should... More

A great NJ family run restaurant. Quality food, well prepared. They have a van and seem to have captured a lot of the flight crews by their willingness to come pick you up at the airport hotels. They also have another restaurant out in the suburbs - both are excellent. Great selection of dishes and reasonably priced.

I do not eat in Newark's Iron Bound district that often. In the past I ate at Forno's, which is very large. The Spanish Tavern is a much smaller place. The service seems similar. Even the food seems similar. Parking is convenient with a dedicated parking lot. The dining room is very nice. The servers are nice, but particularly attentive.... More

I had super good calamari with garlic sauce and a Paella Valenciana. Not a single defect .... ingredients good and cooked to perfection. Nice ambience, good also for a business lunch or dinner

Let me set the scene....chilly, blustery November afternoon. Park in the parking lot for the Spanish Tavern and was 'escorted' by an employee across the street and into the restaurant. We felt very important! While waiting in the warm & cozy bar area for our friends to arrive, we have delicious drinks while my husband admires a map of Spain... More

We had a get together of family members in the private room downstairs. There were 39 people present....the seating was a bit tight with a projector and screen and not much space for mingling before we sat, but that just encouraged us to interact more! The staff was on point.....the service was impeccable and everyone was extremely friendly, attentive and... More

I had dinner with my girlfriend and her daughter. Every aspect of our experience was top notch. Free parking is available in a lot across the street. There is an attendant in the lot. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the host, who took us to the table we had reserved. There is a small bar area... More

My wife and I are visiting the area and the hotel we are staying at recommended this restaurant along with several others, but first calling this restaurant a Portuguese restaurant which piqued our interest and influenced our decision to go. The restaurant provided a 'free' shuttle, (tips accepted), to and from our hotel. This service was invaluable for out of... More

In my opinion the finest pure Spanish Restaurant in Newark. Spanish, not Portuguese or mixed. The food was first rate. I haven't eaten a good Spanish dish since Spain last summer. My wife recommended this place which she had experienced years ago. The interior is one of the most formal and attractive in town with great seating. The cuisine is... More
