The wait staff is quite accommodating and very attentive. We started with the white sangria that was filled with fresh apples and oranges. Complimentary potato leek soup was served that was very delicious along with warm fresh bread. Our meals were delicious, fresh, well presented and completely finished. Our course we had flan and it was gone in a matter... More

So this venture for food started out as a place to eat before going to a concert at the NJPAC. Upon finding this place and reading a few reviews it seemed that The Spanish Tavern was definitely the place to go. My lady and I have not been out in quite a long time and I wanted to do something... More

Spanish Tavern is well known in this part of the country for their delicious Spaniard cuisine. The place in Newark as well as the one in Mountainside serve the most delicious dishes from Spain with very pleasant waiters and a very friendly atmosphere. I would recommend this place for a nice dinner and the best sangria in town.

Place very nice, great food & service,. If you want it they give you soup free. House red wine is awesome. Dishes are big so share them or you are taking a lot home with you. Mushroom & garlic app is yum-0!

The Spanish tavern is one of several Spanish/Portugese restaurants in the Iron Bound section in Newark. It is the best of a very good bunch. The atmosphere is a bit dated, but comfortable. Seating is tight, like a NYC place, but not noisy. Get the sangria, a pitcher is just right for two for the whole meal. The Entrees are... More

I had not been to the Ironbound section of Newark in years and with the city's reputation, I figured a lot of people stay away. Not at all. I was surprised by the number of people from outside the city who come in for good Spanish and Portuguese food and Spanish Tavern is one of them. First off, the person... More

Brought family to celebrate my wife bday, it was well worth the 1.5 hrs driving time. Had as appetizers Crab meat stuffed avocados, Croquetas de Bacalao and Spanish grilled sausages. All very good, but the avocado is clear winner. For main course the Paella Valenciana is just fantastic, it is the real thing, very good, very tasty, it is served... More
