I have not been there since 1981 but I feel the need to praise the place. From others reviews it has not changed. The bar tenders always make you feel like a regular, the kitchen on the side offers good honest food, nothing fancy but great tasting. The bar is capable of serving any kind of drink you want except... More

I was in Newark to see the Mike Tyson one man show, I arrived hours early to beat traffic and needed a place to hang out for a few hours. Most of downtown Newark seemed shady but then I found this diamond in the rough. Although the outside seemed dark and dreary the inside of the bar was incredible. Bright,... More

Though the painted door maybe nearly impossible to find among the 4 others that don't open, the inside is far bigger than expected and has a huge bar. It is obviously popular with locals as it was surprisingly packed on a Wednesday afternoon when the temperature was below freezing. Service was friendly, though very slow and I had to pay... More

Came here after reading reviews on trip advisor. We weren't disappointed! It was a Friday night, very loud but friendly crowd. My burger was one of the best I've eaten in a long time and the sweet potato fries were great. We were in Newark for airport pickup, this was a great choice for getting dinner.

This is a great Dive bar. The staff was enthusiastic and friendly. Gone were the annoying televisions tuned to ESPN. This place actually encourages interaction among the guests.( I thought that's what bars were for?) There are lots of cool murals on the walls. It looks like a Cop and Fireman hang out, so you'll feel safe in downtown Newark.... More

This is my first trip to Newark, and I went because of consistent 5-star reviews on trip advisor. This place was not what I was expecting, but it was great. This is a Rutgers student dive bar, in the best sense of that term. The happy hour/dinnertime atmosphere was low key, service was fast and friendly, and people-watching was great.... More

This place is like stepping into a working mens club back home in Scotland! I have visited so many so called Irish bars in the US, most of them are nothing like the ones back home, even though they try so hard to be so. This was genuine, its been around for years and was one of the reasons why... More
