Newark's Ironbound neighborhood has many Spanish and Portuguese restaurants, and this is one of the best. Excellent wine list, wonderful entrees, and very good service. They start you with a complimentary salad that could feed an army. Try the Paella or other seafood dishes. Tons of great fish and nicely spiced. Rely on the waiters to recommend a great Spanish... This is my favorite restaurant anywhere. Those unfamiliar with the local area are surprised to find such a gem near Newark. They serve incredible, authentic Portuguese and Spanish dishes, in a nice but comfortable white table cloth environment with murals decorating the walls. I'm not kidding when I say that I've had clients take doggy bags on planes from after... More

I have eaten here two times now, both for business dinners and have had excellent food each time. My only negative comment would be that when you have a larger group, it takes longer to get your food. We saw couples get seated after we had ordered and have them get their food, eat and leave before our food arrived.... More

I am speechless as to how bad this restaurant is. Am really at a loss for words. Absolutely terrible service, where the waiters are rude, condescending, and dim witted. We ordered the calamari appetizer and it was so bland, it's what I would imagine plastic tastes like. We asked 3 times before ordering if the calamari is breaded and what... More

Ok, this isn't fine dining. That being said, a heck of a good meal can be had here. Salad and bread arrive tableside before the menus. Then the food keeps coming. And coming. And coming. One entre feeds an entire school. Food quality is good for a place with such a large menu. My favorite is the chicken with garlic... More

This restaurant has been around for twenty plus years and it lives up to its excellent reputation. It is great for large groups or just a couple. The portions are generous and the selection can be overwhelming. One of my favorites in Newark/

We went after a family funeral because this was the family member's favorite restaurant. The food was excellent. The taste was great and the portions were as well. If I lived closer I would make this a weekly dinner spot. The prices were worth it, due to the taste, the portions and the environment. The only reason I can't give... More

I found Forno's by mistake. My husband and a friend hiked 33 miles from Roseland to Newark in one day and wanted to end the trek with a good meal as close to Penn Station as possible. Who knew that such a wonderful place was just blocks away. It was the perfect end for two weary travelors and one supportive... More
