We have eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years. For some reason, the less crowded it is, the worse the service. i ordeedr an appetizer and it never came. Perhaps I'm being a bit critical, but this has been one of my favorite places in Ironbound for the past 40 years. While I frequent other places on occasion, Tony Da Caneca's has been my "go to" place. In fairness, the food is still good (but not as good as in the past), the value proposition is still there and... More

My family and I went to De Caneca Restaurant for lunch on March 7, 2015 for my father's birthday. The food was delicious and the waiters were courteous. I had no idea that for lunch you get a chicken noodle soup with your meal which was a bonus. We arrived at 1:15 p.m.started off with the bread and butter that... More

Tony Da'Caneca Restaurant is a great place for social gathering, romantic couples or Elegant Dining. The restaurant has (3) separate rooms to accommodate what ever atmosphere you desire & the food & service are excellent! I had my retirement dinner there & we had a private room with multiple choices of appetizers, dinner & desert. They even offer free parking... More

There are many choices for Spanish/Portuguese food in Newark. This place is a good choice. It's been here a long time. The service is friendly and the food was delicious. We had clams in green sauce which was terrific, a light delicious soup and a fresh tasting seafood casserole in a tomato sauce that was also great. With sangria and... More

The restaurant is off the beaten path, but you can tell that it is a local favorite. They have a small parking lot across the street from the restaurant. You have to be careful that you pay attention or you will drive right past it. The restaurant is small in size but has a nice home like feel to it.... More

Take the time to find this place in the Ironbound district. Small place but a great local atmosphere and super veal. Try to eat in the bar area if possible for a better feeling of old Newark. Can't say enough about the consistent food.

My husband and I love to explore restaurants and shops in the IronBound! He "discovered" this one with a friend and was excited to share his new find with me. We sat in the bar area and we were welcomed promptly. We each had a glass of house red wine. It was very good for the price but it was... More

My son and I went for an early dinner prior to attending a Red Bull soccer game. Tony has his own attended lot and this is a big deal in Newark, trust me. I made a reservation and we were warmly greeted although we hadn't been there before. We decided to split a bottle of wine and the head waiter... More
