Description: The Scene The Syracuse-based barbecue phenomenon plunked a sprawling roadhouse with all the familiar back-road accoutrements into an abandoned meat factory. The roll call of devotees includes area families, couples on casual dates and old friends alike. The Food: Though fried green tomatoes and punchy boiled shrimp start things off right, the smell of smoking meats quickly adjusts the focus. The smokey-sweet pork ribs gently release from the bone and the Texas brisket, a touch dry, gets a lift from a topping of tangy cured jalapenos and a dash of hot sauce. It's even safe to venture from red meat with the truly moist and tender chicken, brined then smoked for deep flavor. With the exception of the cakey corn bread, sides keep pace, with tangy Creole potato salad and sweetened baked beans the standouts.

Just had one of the best BBQ dinners I've had in the past year. Next door to the PRU Center, the location was perfect, the wait staff outstanding, and the food AMAZING!

We stayed in Newark on a visit to New York City. Dinosaur Barbeque was recommended to us by our hotel staff since we were too tired to go far. It was a 4 block walk to Dinosaur from our hotel in a nice area. The food was extremely good, great service, and very pleasant atmosphere. The barbeque was much better... More

Ate here May '13. I believe on a Thursday night, but not sure. Wandered in after checking out Tripadvisor. Seated promptly; restaurant was busy, but not completely full. Checked out the menu, as with so many places it's a tad dark. Or maybe my eyesight is just bad. Decided on the 2 meat dinner. Had brisket and pulled pork. Both... More

Visit never disappoint me or my friend!!!. The service from start to finish was flawless. I could not fault it. Whenever one of us wanted to go to the toilet our chair was pulled out for us, whenever our water was near empty, it was replenished and the staff engaged in friendly banter which made the night more enjoyable. The... More

I ate here for lunch while I was on a recent business trip to Newark. I had been wandering around looking for a place to eat (there do not appear to be many restaurants in downtown Newark) and chanced upon this place by luck more than judgement, although it's actually situated nicely in the city center. The place was packed... More

This is a fun place if you want to have some delicious BBQ in a very unusual setting. It is right next to the Prudential Center, home of the NJ Devils, the SHU Pirates and numerous shows and convenient to many local office buildings. The decor is exposed brick and wood with tin ceilings. Our waiter was terrific and our... More

We went to the Dinosaur BBQ before the Fleetwood Mac concert at the Pru Center. We had made reservations and were a little early. They quickly seated us. The food was great we had appts and all enjoyed our dinners as well. The service left a lot to be desired. Our waiter was SEan, and he looked like he was... More

The restaurant has a good smoky smell when you walk in (not cigarette smoke). I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with one side (mini wedge salad). The menu says that the sandwich is served on a potato roll, it was not, but it was ok with me. The salad dressing was unique. My sangria tasted watered-down. I would go back.

Really nice people here. Unfortunately, we had to deal with a manager...a mix up in our reservation. He was so nice about it, it convinced us to go. Received VIP treatment that night, even though they were ridiculously crowded due to the NJ Devils game next door. The food and atmosphere were all Dinosaur and we had an enjoyable family... More

Awesome, just awesome.. Everything was great. briset, pulled pork, ribs... on and on. the Mac and cheese is rediculous. Well worth the trip to Newark. Look for the parking lot across the street for validated parking... You don't want to brave the surrounding area if you can help it.
