Found this little gem on a Wednesday night and enjoyed the half-priced bottle of wine along with some delicious tapas. We got a variety of tapas and appetizers to share and everything was excellent. I also had a salad that was really fresh. Our waitress was great and even brought over tastes of the wine we asked about. Highly recommend... More

Came after seeing website referring to Ferran Adria and el Bulli--this place more of a NJ singles/sports bar with decent tapas than a high end resto. Worth checking out if you're staying in the area but dont expect great food.

Not expecting much, we got tons! The service was friendly and efficient. But the food was the star!!! We shared several tapas because we wanted to try as many things as possible. My God, EVERYTHING was BETTER THAN OUTSTANDING! In fact my husband was so impressed, he said he would drive the 60 miles again just for dinner!

We had made reservations to have dinner at the restaurant for my sons birthday. Unfortunately when we arrived, the lady who seated us made it appear she was doing us a big favor doing so. No proper greeting, no request to get our drinks order and absolutely no smile. We left before ordering, not wanting to spend money here and... More

My family truly enjoyed a great meal at Catas before a soccer match at Red Bull Arena. It is a short 5-10 minute walk to the stadium. The food was great. We shared several tapas that were awesome. My daughter (12) loved the beef empanadas, I had the cuban sandwiches and the drunken mussles. We actually ordered too much food... More

We tried one of every warm tapas on the menu--everything was delicious! The spicy potatoes and lamb meatballs were exceptionally good and really stood out from the other plates. The calamari was more bread than calamari, but that is typical, I think. The service was extremely slow. We had to hunt down someone to take our order, then we had... More

For a late Tuesday lunch, the restaurant was extremely quiet, and Miguel (the server) made it just perfect for a working lunch. Relaxed, helpful, and happy to make it easy for me, Miguel offered excellent tips about the various menu options, wasn't pushy at all, and just made it very relaxing overall. The place started to fill up around 4:00... More

Catas will offer you genuine Spanish fare if you are inclined to travel past the main drag of ferry street in Newark. This place is both a bar and restaurant. The bar has an entrance to the front and the restaurant has an entrance at the side of the building. There is very limited parking so be prepared to park... More

If you are someone who enjoys Iberian (Spanish/Portuguese) food, I highly recommend giving Catas a shot. The entire restaurant is done in a Gaudi theme with intricate tiling, marblework, and lighting. Very good design. The food is excellent. Do not expect to get a traditional heaping plate as is the case at most Ironbound restaurants, but you will be filled... More
