From the moment you enter, tones of old world yellows, stone fireplaces, wrought iron cellar gates and sconces, soft candlelight, coves with upholstered sofa seating and friendly staff, it's an undeniable inviting space, nothing short of extraordinary. Two special occasion tables with antique throne chairs and live piano music add to the intimacy. Two romantic dining rooms cater to an elegant crowd, while the long narrow bar gathers a friendly and fun bunch nightly. The cuisine truly upholds the name of Fine Portuguese/Spanish Dining, seafood and fish, organic meats, the freshest ingredients and to maintain the tradition, huge portions are to be expected. The menu is seasonal and in addition to a varied selection of delectable dishes to satisfy any palette, daily specials are always featured. The wine list with over 180 selections is an ambitious one that keeps growing, but sure not to disappoint the discriminating connoisseur.

Delicious from apps to main course

One of the best restaurants to eat at in Ironbound. A little pricey, but I travel alot and I can say the food is one of the best I've had. A must visit when in the area.

Had lunch the other day with a client. Sausage, shrimps n garlic, and cold seafood salad for apps. Excellent ! I had shrimp & scallops in green sauce. Client had a filet mignon. Both awesome. Chocolate cake for dessert and a few expresso's. Awesome. A must visit.

Went to eat here before attending a concert at the Prudential. Made reservations and we were seating with no problem. Place was packed, and it was clear the waiters were working hard at keeping up. However, after waiting too long(15-20 mins) for a waiter to come and take our order, I got up to gently complain, and finally after a... More

Made birthday reservations a week prior to the event. When I arrived to restaurant the waiter I made reservations with not only didn't give me the seating I requested but I was seated tight location and waiter promised he would take care of it and not to worry he didn't even give us discount for being inconvenienced. Plus I ordered... More

Came here with a party of 10 to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and attentive. There is a lounge there to hang out and dance as well. I would recommend highly!

In the heart of the Ironbound area, it certainly helps that Adega offers free parking around the corner. Visited here with a group of friends on a Saturday night. We met up in the bar area and the restaurant was very accomodating in holding our table when a few guests were late. The bar and restaurant are worlds apart. The... More

Stopped here with a friend and tried the garlic cilantro clams. They were awesome. The servers were very attentive and professional. The sangria was very tasty too.

First return visit here in many years. Food is still very good, and the service was fine and friendly. But costs add up quickly. Had no idea the sangria would be as expensive as it was. Total bill, including appetizers and dessert, came to $324 for a party of four. That's just too much to get me back again any... More

A pitcher of crushed ice with a little wine, fruit juice, and a secret ingredient: Sprite, shouldn't cost $28.50 (especially when there are many full bottles of wine available for $30, and many entrees available for less), but that's the surprising revelation when you see the bill, especially after ordering two pitchers. So, when we come back -- and we... More

Having dined in the Ironbound section of Newark many times over the past 40 years, the Adega Grill has now become my favorite based upon ambiance, food and service.... All very difficult to beat! We dined with good friends from Phoenix, who request a great Portuguese dining experience when in the NYC area! The Adega Grill did not fail.... The... More
