Description: From the moment you enter, tones of old world yellows, stone fireplaces, wrought iron cellar gates and sconces, soft candlelight, coves with upholstered sofa seating and friendly staff, it's an undeniable inviting space, nothing short of extraordinary. Two special occasion tables with antique throne chairs and live piano music add to the intimacy. Two romantic dining rooms cater to an elegant crowd, while the long narrow bar gathers a friendly and fun bunch nightly. The cuisine truly upholds the name of Fine Portuguese/Spanish Dining, seafood and fish, organic meats, the freshest ingredients and to maintain the tradition, huge portions are to be expected. The menu is seasonal and in addition to a varied selection of delectable dishes to satisfy any palette, daily specials are always featured. The wine list with over 180 selections is an ambitious one that keeps growing, but sure not to disappoint the discriminating connoisseur.

First return visit here in many years. Food is still very good, and the service was fine and friendly. But costs add up quickly. Had no idea the sangria would be as expensive as it was. Total bill, including appetizers and dessert, came to $324 for a party of four. That's just too much to get me back again any... More

A pitcher of crushed ice with a little wine, fruit juice, and a secret ingredient: Sprite, shouldn't cost $28.50 (especially when there are many full bottles of wine available for $30, and many entrees available for less), but that's the surprising revelation when you see the bill, especially after ordering two pitchers. So, when we come back -- and we... More

Having dined in the Ironbound section of Newark many times over the past 40 years, the Adega Grill has now become my favorite based upon ambiance, food and service.... All very difficult to beat! We dined with good friends from Phoenix, who request a great Portuguese dining experience when in the NYC area! The Adega Grill did not fail.... The... More

I so wanted this meal to be great. The menu, ambiance and food presentations were first class and came as a recommendation. The struggles for the four of us began with the overpriced sangria (almost $30 for a medium sized carafe). We all sampled specials as our main courses. This is where most restaurants shine. The first 2 bites of... More

I eat here at least 20 times a year. Trying different specials and menu items. EVERY person I bring here can't wait to go back. The shrimp and garlic app. is second to none ALWAYS good hot and fresh. The specials are always good but go fast, so you need to go early to avoid disappointment. This place should certainly... More

We booked this restaurant for a pre-concert (NJPAC) dinner; after a small confusion they found us a good table (my reservation was on their screen but they claimed they have changed hours - coming out of DST a week too late?). The food was excellent (paelha marinera for me, sea bass for my wife), likewise service with the exception of... More

We tried the Adega Grill at the suggestion of a friend before heading to a concert at the Prudentail Center. I was amazed that the service was exceptional given the fact that this restaurant was booked to capacity and were accommodating diners who were also going to the concert. Everything we asked for was brought to our table within seconds,... More

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Just be careful with the pitchers of sangria, they add up quickly. I have no complaints about the service, the waiters were attentive and the food was brought at a comfortable pace. The restaurant had unique decor and seating, utilizing comfy couches for some of the tables and enormous throne-like seats for others.... More

They doesn't offer the traditional Portugues drinks like sumol. They offer me a pineapple juice which has a bad taste. The food is OK, but is price for the quality.

I recently had my 40th birthday party at Adega. Marco, the manager, was great to work with and accommodating. The food was delicious and the drinks spectacular. The wait staff was unbelievabley attentive. I highly recommend.
