Maybe tonight was an off night, but sadly nothing was good. Stale bread, mediocre flat bread, over cooked salmon (dry with rubbery manchego cheese), OK grilled octopus, saved by a good arugula and garbanzo bean salad. We sat in a beautiful room open to the outside but covered with vines and trellises. I recommend sitting in this area.

We visited Mompou on wine nite so some bottles were half price (who knew?) We selected a Spanish wine that was very expensive but for half price it was affordable - it was grand. We had tapas. The food arrived within a reasonable time. it was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. We will definitely go back.

Having worked in Newark for many years, Mompou was one of my favorite after work places and I haven't been there in a few years. Met a girlfriend for dinner recently and was so happy to be back. It was a Thursday night and the place was jumping. I hope it's like that every night. It was loud, people were... More

always a good meal, mompou is a favorite newark spot for us. the drinks are great, and the atmosphere and service are equally wonderful. the food is very good, and we love being able to try several small dishes. the only downside is the portion size. i understand that tapas consists of small plates, however at about $10 per dish... I took my son and two teenage granddaughters to Mompou on a Saturday night after a B'way matinee. We were staying in NJ to visit with other family members and I wanted to dine somewhere between Manhattan and Parlin. I checked the reviews for Mompou on Tripadvisor and was very pleased with what we found: a charming, intimate, brick-walled Spanish... More

Really loved this spot in the ever surprising Ironbound. Frankly I'd recommend to anyone thinking of looking for a good casual/relaxed meal anywhere in Northern NJ. Fantastic space, great vibe, nice accessible wine list, fair pricing and very good food. Perfect for lunch or dinner. Easy walk from Penn Station. Hanger steak sandwich delicious.

I adore this place. A friend introduced me to it awhile back and it truly is a hidden gem. Exceptional food, great wine, and all at a reasonable price. The smart move is to order a bunch of small plates/tapas and share and share alike. Some faves: chorizos, chicken meatballs, lamb chops, cod croquettes, sautéed potatoes, stuffed peppers, octopus, beet... More
