I received a message from Makeda that they were closed until further notice and no further details were available. I hope they re-open soon. It's great food and great atmosphere!

I tried to make a reservation last night and their voicemail said the restaurant was closed until further notice. Now the number is disconnected. Does anyone know?

My BFF and I did "Girls Night Out" this past Saturday. We hadn't hung out in a while and decided to meet for dinner and drinks at Makeda. This used to be a local hang out for her when she lived in the area. I had never been but was excited to try something new and different. She made reservations... More

My wife and I took my son to this restaurant. He is going for his Masters at Princeton University. He has spent a lot of time in Mali, Kenya and the Philippines. Given how poor Ethiopia is, I was startled how expensive this restaurant was for basic Ethiopian dishes. One of the best Italian restaurants in the state, Catherine Lombardi, is around the corner for not much more money.

Good Ethiopian food, the cultural experience was good. The ambiance excellent. Service was a bit slow. But overall a good night.

Makeda is centrally located in New Brunswick. Delicious Ethiopian food-love the vegetarian mix platter-you will not leave hungry. Helpful staff.

Ethiopian food is very good and your children - and maybe yourself - will have fun because there is no utensils = you use thin crepes to grab vegetables and meat with your fingers! Even if almost everything in your plate is cooked in a sauce, this is not gross at all, though you will find your napkin very useful.... More
