Traditional Italian Food and Service

Catherine Lombardi is above other New Brunswick restaurants. Literally -- it is on the second floor of the building accessible by stairs and elevator. Once upstairs, one steps back in time to a lovely inviting setting, generally attentive service, and traditional Italian food. I highly recommend... read more

Cannot say enough about CAtherine Lombardi's. The restaurant is VERY SPECIAL, and truly amazing. It really makes you feel make you've gone out to eat for a special occasion. The waitstaff is PERFECT - never intimidating or overbearing. The seating is WONDERFUL, especially if you are lucky enough to be seated in one of the velvet chairs. And the ambiance... More

The restaurant is upstairs, dimly lit and romantic. We have been there twice. The food was exceptional. The black meat balls are delicious as well as the claims casino. I had seafood fradiablo. It was very good. My husband had a wild boar bolognaise that was good. The service was impeccable. My husband got to try several beers to select... More

It is as advertised and a delight. A warning --... More

Stayed at a nearby hotel and walked to the restaurant which was close by. To start there were wonderful appetizers and there is something for everyone. I was there with a large group and all loved the food! The eggplant parm was amazing-highly recommend it- but I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu:)

I had dinner here on a Friday night and from the looks of the restaurant, I expected a fabulous meal. The ambiance was quite nice. There were many waitstaff personnel so I thought this would be great. When sitting down we were asked immediately if we wanted bottled water and it was done in a way as to increase the... More

Terrible service. Not the Waitresses fault. Apparently the kitchen was backed up. Took so long for our food. Then we ordered coffee and dessert.. The coffee came, but our dessert came 20 minutes later. I discussed with the hostess that our desert was taking so long. As the hostess was going back to discuss with the staff, the dessert came... NJ has thousands of Italian restaurants and this is one of the very best. The best garlic bread and pesto pasta I ever had and everything else was excellent. Very nice atmosphere and excellent service. Somewhat expensive, but worth it. Very close to theaters, hotels, etc.

Dinner for three. Easy reservation, quick seating, nice upscale atmosphere, 2 huge fireplaces, comfortable couch seating. Pick of 6 formaggio to start. Dried salumi very nice, octopus rubbery, eggplant caponata was raw chunks of eggplant, period (no pine nuts, no tomatoe, no onions, no celery) roasted peppers same as the ones I make at home, disappointed. Stuffed calamari appitz. was... More

I eat out in New Brunswick more than almost anybody, and I can't believe this isn't number one. (And that means no offense to Destination Dogs, which is also excellent.) The wine list is complex and interesting, as is the food menu, and the service is absolutely top notch professional. It's not exactly cheap, but worth every penny! Save this... More

Had a business dinner here and the atmosphere was excellent, Service was great. I had the seafood diavlo (spelling??). The broth was excellent but most of the seafood in the broth was way over-cooked. The lobster was like rubber. What's the point of giving your Customers a great piece of protein and then screwing it up. And by, the way,... More
