Food was just OK

Dinner for three. Easy reservation, quick seating, nice upscale atmosphere, 2 huge fireplaces, comfortable couch seating. Pick of 6 formaggio to start. Dried salumi very nice, octopus rubbery, eggplant caponata was raw chunks of eggplant, period (no pine nuts, no tomatoe, no onions, no celery... read more

Terrible service. Not the Waitresses fault. Apparently the kitchen was backed up. Took so long for our food. Then we ordered coffee and dessert.. The coffee came, but our dessert came 20 minutes later. I discussed with the hostess that our desert was taking so long. As the hostess was going back to discuss with the staff, the dessert came... NJ has thousands of Italian restaurants and this is one of the very best. The best garlic bread and pesto pasta I ever had and everything else was excellent. Very nice atmosphere and excellent service. Somewhat expensive, but worth it. Very close to theaters, hotels, etc.

I eat out in New Brunswick more than almost anybody, and I can't believe this isn't number one. (And that means no offense to Destination Dogs, which is also excellent.) The wine list is complex and interesting, as is the food menu, and the service is absolutely top notch professional. It's not exactly cheap, but worth every penny! Save this... More

Had a business dinner here and the atmosphere was excellent, Service was great. I had the seafood diavlo (spelling??). The broth was excellent but most of the seafood in the broth was way over-cooked. The lobster was like rubber. What's the point of giving your Customers a great piece of protein and then screwing it up. And by, the way,... More

I have only been here once for dinner with my boyfriend but they made a wonderful first impression. The service was very good & with reservations there was no waiting time to be seated. The garlic bread is DELICIOUS (overdone with garlic just like any Italian or Italian cuisine lover would want). The Seafood Fra Diavolo was outstanding & the... More

My husband and I walked up to Catherine Lombardi after seeing a show at the state theatre and popped in to see if we could grab dinner. We didn't have a reservation, but it ended up being okay. We were told by a manager/host/ owner (not sure what his role was) that they'd have to rush us since there was... More

Our dinner started with wonderful assistance in selecting a bottle of wine we enjoyed so much we took advantage of the "half-price package service" to take one home, as well. The house made mozzerella with roasted peppers and basil was delicous. The bread basket with a good quality olive oil for dipping was a nice addition. We ordered the peppered... More

Came here for my anniversary. I'm sure the staff thought my girlfriend and I were 14-years-old the whole time but they still treated us like the adults we are. The food was very expensive but so worth it. It's a nice place with good atmosphere, not the type of place where you throw on jeans and a t-shirt just to... More

Booked this restaurant for New Year's Eve. It's quite an expensive and the food was all right but only all right. Several dishes arrived warm rather than hot. Service was brusque bordering on rude and the bill was plonked on the table before being asked for and without the offer of coffee or liquors. All the waitress was concerned about... More
