It should be prefaced that there isn't a plethora of Mexican cuisine in the South Jersey area. My dilemma therefore is whether to compare this to Mexican food that I've had in Southern California and Texas vs the competition here in South Jersey. This is fairly good for South Jersey but falls short when judged against many Mexican meals that... More

I cannot say enough great things about La Esperanza...the food is absolutely delicioso, the staff is super friendly and of course their margaritas are stellar! I love the chicken tostadas and their guacamole!

There is nothing like La Esperanza's homemade guacamole. It beats any other Mexican restaurant hands down.

We visit this place on a regular basis. It looks like a house only brightly painted until you pull around back to the parking lot. Once you go in, you might think you are in Mexico. Not like in the chain restaurants, because this is family owned and operated. With little shelves of pottery and bottles from Mexico, the paintings... More

I have been reading reviews on this place forever and wanted to go but just never got around to it. So, my cousin contacted me last night and wanted to know if we could go out to eat. After pondering many places and cuisines we decided on La Esperanza. The food is AUTHENIC people! It is DELICIOUS! There is NO... More

Very authentic and family owned. Menu items are homemade on premises, not a chain restaurant . Home made guacamole appetizer is a specialty for the table , ( large amount good for 2-4) Shrimp dishes are very good. Reservations will only be accepted no earlier than 2 hrs in advance .

Yet again I had an amazing meal at La Esperanza. I visited Mexico in May and was dying for some Chilaquiles Verdes, and boy did these hit the spot!! Hubby had their Mole Poblano, which was heavenly, as usual. Of course, I had to have a house Margarita--awesome! Our kids love it here as well, and were happy with their... More

We went here for our adult son's birthday with a party of 8 people including a 2 year old and 5 year old. Even though they indicated they had a child's menu, the portion for the two year old was HUGE (overwhelming for her) and when the 5 year old asked for a single soft taco, the restaurant refused and... Took family here for combined Father's Day/Birthday celebration. Was not disappointed. Converted house, plenty of parking at rear of restaurant. Average meal was $15, house margarita $5. Family of 8 was very happy with selections. The Alex is a huge burrito that could not be eaten by one person. I will definitely return.
