Authentic Mexican

We have been there twice, service was good both times. Food was good, the salsa they bring to the table to munch is really good. The restaurant entrance itself is down an alley way, so it may be easy to miss. There is also an outside patio , a back yard really. The restaurant's atmosphere is not... read more

In the past, it has been great service and food. This particular week was not a good one for the Mexican restaurant. They were very busy as the word was out that they were closing. The wait time was the most we've ever waited. The hostess sat an obnoxious group that came in after us. The Mitchell's bar in the... More

We have been to this place several times and to be frank it's completely hit or miss. A couple times it's been yummy and the others have been a total bomb. The Mexican chorizo pizza is always tasty. The sodas are pricey, margaritas are also hit or miss depending on who is making them. In addition the drink service is... More

A delightful experience. Started with traditional Nachos for two, followed by their combo specials. Traditional Mexican food, but generous portions and nice presentation. More importantly, very tasty! We will be back!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area and a very good value. Recently had the paella special and it was amazing. HUGE heaping platter of mussels, clams, shrimp, fish, chicken, squid, and sausage over rice with their signature creamy chipotle sauce. Awesome. Took half home for dinner the next day, so got two meals for $23. The... More

located behind the shot and beer joint, Mitchell's, the Tortuga is a small restaurant and a big Mexican menu. Classic Mexicana dishes use the freshest ingredients.

The food was very good. The wine came to the table chilled but only because the bar it was stored in was cold. Funny because the wine was the right temperature to be served. The service was fine. The décor is typical. Finding the place was difficult. On the side of the building there is a sign for Tortuga's but... More

We had reservations for 7:00 but weren't seated until 7:40 and only because I came out of the bar to see if our table was ready. The hostess never came to get us. Then we waited until 8:00 for the waitress to come take our orders. When we finally got our food, it was very good except the rice was... More

Have eaten here many times, both in the restaurant, and at the attached bar, Mitchell s. Food is inconsistent, as is the service. Some of their dishes are quite good (Chipotle Shrimp), where other come out bland or soggy. Service is never great, sometimes adequate, sometimes staff acting like you are a burden on them, and they can be somewhat... More

If "back alley" and "hole in the wall" conjure negative images, you might be surprised by Tortgua's Cocina. I would have missed the place if others hadn't pointed it out to me. Once inside, the modestly decorated dining room, we felt immediately at home. The service was prompt and pleasant; the food was very good. I will go back.
