Ota-Ya is a real asset to our area, with fresh ingredients carefully prepared, and delightful service. The room is tired, and could really use a refresh, but otherwise there is little to criticize about this fairly priced BYOB.

Let me start with the positive: The sushi was high-quality (mostly, except for the unacceptable number of bones I found in my salmon sashimi), the rice was very good, and the selection was what one would expect from a Japanese/sushi restaurant. Now for the rest: Our server was, at best, effective. She seemed surly and preoccupied. She wasn't the only... More

Came in with a large group and they seemed unprepared. Food was fair, service was spotty. Only Japanese restaurant in town.

As a big fan of sushi, I had to try them out, but won't go back. I gave them more than 5 chances. Restaurant is outdated, hostess is lacking all energy and warmth, prices are steep, and food portions are quite small.

With an emphasis on freshness and authenticity of ingredients, Lambertville BYO Ota-Ya adds creative preparations, good value and efficient, warm service. We especially like the sushi rolls that come in so many combinations. Only the tired decor detracts from the experience.

My first time here. The service was very poor. It was almost empty in the restaurant when I walked in. Only two tables were taken. I had to sand there for about 5-10 minutes to be seated. The menu had prices crossed out and in pen an increase of 3 or so dollars. I found this sloppy. I ordered the... More

Always fresh, and creative sushi and Japanese food. The service is great!...we love to sit at the sushi bar and talk with the sushi chefs.

My girlfriend and I have been there several times over the past month and it is without a doubt one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to! I have never had a bad meal there and we tend to get the same thing most of the time. The following have been eaten and are delicious! Tuna Metroplitan... More

My husband and I ordered house ginger salads and beef negimaki, both of which were average. The negimaki didn't have enough seasoning, but was ok. The salad was tasty, but too much dressing. The sushi rolls however, were very good. Nice presentation and very fresh. I would have liked the wait staff to be friendlier and I didn't care for... More
