This place definitely has the best Indian food that I've had. Huge portions, very friendly staff. Small, quiet place with a great atmosphere. Being a stickler for service, it could have been a bit better, but it wasn't bad service, just a bit slow. I will definitely be back. Meat Samosas, Lamb Roganjosh and Chicken Tika Massala were great.

I've eaten here with some of my friends from work who are Indian. We all enjoyed our meals. There are a couple of lunch specials which come in good size portions. The place was a little dark inside and wasn't full of people. We were worried about the quality of food and service, but food was delicious and waiters were... More

I live in Union County, New Jersey and have found that this Indian restaurant has the best Indian food in the area. The samosas are flavourful and crisped to perfection, the chicken tikka masala and lamb saag were delicious and spicy enough to dip the naan bread in and consume with basmati rice. I would definitely recomment this restaurant to... More

We go to this place about once every other month. The food is very good Indian food. The place is small, but normally not very crowded. Most Indian restaurants are similar and some are tastier than others. Star of India is about in the middle, but often-times the Tandoori Chicken is excellent. One particular point: Star of India Vindaloo is... More

It's a very small place, dimly lit. My ex and I used to go early during the week, and it wasn't very busy. All of the dishes are fantastic, and the tamarind chutney is very good. There's a special (I can't remember the name of it, because I say "usual" and they bring it sans cilantro) that combines a lamb... More

This restaurant has a long and proven record of providing excellent and amigable service, excellent Indian food at very reasonable prices. I'm please to say that the interior environment was refreshed and upgraded a couple of years ago. They have no liquor license so bring your own. Enjoy!

This is a family run restaurant and it feels like one. People are very friendly and decore while a bit dated is authentic (we actually talked with the owners, they brought most of it from India). The food was good and plentiful. I always find it hard to find good ethnic restaurants in NJ having lived in NYC most of... More

We decided we wanted Indian food and went to our favoriate, Star. The owners gave us a huge hello. We were worried at first because we were the only ones in the place but as the evening progressed, more customers arrived. They seem to do a lot of take-out. The crispy bread and condiments were yummy. They brought us complimentary... More

The owners remember us, the food is delicious, the servings are large, and the dining room is loaded with great Indian decor.
